Asha Yoga

Yoga Studio

I was 19 years old. On a Wednesday night 20 years ago when I fell in love twice. First with yoga and then with the ritual of soaking. My friend Karen and I began a year-long affair with both practices — every week going from yoga straight to soak, steam, sauna, and cold plunge. We’d lounge for hours. The rich conversation, the strength I found in my body, the restoration I experienced, it all totally hooked me. I moved to Hawaii and opened my first yoga studio because of those Wednesday nights, because of the value I found in my own experience.

Yoga changed the course of my life. Shaped the woman I became. The mother. The entrepreneur. I wrote a book called PLUS ONE: Finding God on the Yoga Mat. I discovered spirituality, self-inquiry, mindfulness, presence, and peace on the yoga mat. And I learned to weather the stormier side of life with a fair bit of grace. Mostly. 🙂

I’ve since spent (nearly) two decades sharing this experience–building yoga studios, including ASHA Yoga, now a flourishing community of yogis invested in slowing down, turning inward, building strength, and letting go. And in 2017 I came full circle and opened a wellness bathhouse was we can steam, sauna, soak in a saltwater warm pool, cold plunge and lounge for hours. Read more

Asha Yoga is a wonderful studio that brings the love of yoga, the taste of spirituality (without pressure to believe something specific), and the luxury of a bathhouse! This studio is so welcoming and organized; the people are so kind. They introduced me to the amazing practice of yin yoga and nidra - adding some Reiki spice to the mix. Their workshops are affordable and always coming up with new ways to bring love, light, and healing to the community they serve.

I bought a Groupon for Asha Yoga after reading good reviews. I'm pretty loyal to my regular yoga studio, but I thought I'd give it a try. Very glad I did!

I loved the Saturday 11am Dynamic Yoga Level 1 class with Melissa. It was just perfect- 90 minutes, perfect mix of challenging and stretching poses, great discussion of application of yoga to real life. Can't wait to go back. And the urban baths next door are also on my "to try" list.

I got a groupon and have taken two balanced yoga classes. They are very relaxing (think more rest and zen than workout) and a great stress reliever when you need to slow down.

Dynamic yoga is the more intense class and I have yet to try it. I'm a beginner but I think the regulars seem to like the dynamic one. ...

Asha is my happy place! If anyone is thinking about giving yoga a try, I highly recommend taking the free Yoga 101 course and the $30 for 30 days of unlimited classes. That way you can try each of the class types they offer - there are several, so you're bound to find something you like.
