  I started getting haircuts with Mel way back in 2008... For the 8 years I lived in NYC after that, I still tried to wait and time haircuts for when I'd be in Chicago.
  
  The staff here always goes above and beyond (I once came in for a cut the same day as a wedding I was attending as a guest and they got me all styled for it for no extra $). Plus the vibe is great, they're affordable, can't say enough good things.

  Just came in tonight for my first visit and I love this place already! They manage to provide high-end, quality services in an atmosphere that is warm, welcoming, and feels like home. The staff is so friendly and everyone was helpful. They gave great advice about hair care without ever pressuring me to come back or purchase product. Everyone was so lovely, especially the salon dog, Goofy who was wandering around... love that. I already booked my next appointment!

  ... Cut to Urban Lift. Manager suggested Alissa when I voiced my concerns and making this appt was the best decision I've made concerning my hair maybe ever (ok, in the past decade). I came in armed with photos of past hairstyles and some of the looks I liked on other people. I immediately trusted Alissa--She is a sweet, personable but obviously stylish, artistic gal who gives a mean cut!!!! In the end I told her to do what she thought best. ...

  I've been going here for cuts and color since I moved to Chicago 6 years ago! Alissa and the rest of the staff are so down to earth and helpful. Nice perks (like a tea or beer when you arrive!) and wonderful, professional service without an ounce of pretentiousness!

  ... Luckily I started working down the street from Urban Lift AND a couple I am friends with both have their haircut by John. He came highly recommended and he didn't disappoint. He took the time to know exactly how I want my haircut and delivered.
  Not only did I have a great experience but the rest of his staff couldn't have been nicer.
  If you are in need of any salon, look no further.
