I am writing on behalf of Anne Megibow. I have had the privilege of knowing Anne for over 25 years. During those years I have danced and performed with her, taught with her, produced numerous concerts with her and created a degree program at Piedmont Virginia Community College with her. In all my work with Anne I have always been impressed by her professionalism, intellect and commitment to whatever she is doing.
Anne is an excellent teacher. I have co-taught numerous modern technique, composition and improvisation classes with her over the last ten years at PVCC. Anne always illuminated the classroom material in a way that allowed students to “catch on”...to feel what she was after and to enjoy whatever was going on. There are many, many students who adore Anne, and she has quite a following of loyal dancers who continue year after year to come to her classes at McGuffey Art Center. She is a warm, engaging, intelligent and delightful teacher.
Anne is also an excellent administrator. For over thirty years Anne was the head of the dance program at PVCC. In that time she brought the program from a single class in a church basement to the only community college dance program in the state of Virginia that grants an Associate’s Degree in Dance. It was my great privilege to be a part of that development, and to watch Anne lead by example, with diligence, commitment and above all, patience!
The concerts that I have danced in and produced with Anne are too numerous to even count! Suffice it to say in every experience she was a fabulous partner and supporter. I fully enjoyed all my work with Anne in this arena and am grateful for the multitude of opportunities Anne provided for me to express my creative vision, implement my structural and production ideas, and mentor students as they realized their choreographic potential.
Anne Megibow is a consummate teacher and a wonderful person. I recommend her without reservation.
