The Vocal Studio of Carrie Hennessey

Music Teacher

Teaching vocal technique privately and through Master Classes for over 10 years, I have worked with students of all ages and skill levels to achieve their vocal goals. I am currently a professional operatic/classical singer and have many years experience in a variety of styles like jazz, choral, rock and musical theater. By discovering how you learn best, I can then customize lessons to your individual needs.

My style of teaching is fun, enthusiastic and to the point, and my approach to singing is holistic. Whether you want to be a professional singer or want to improve while singing in your local choir, all the skills explored are transferable to the rest of your life. Body alignment for optimum breath control, endurance, and how to align mind and body when under pressure are crucial to good health, to build confidence, and to sing as efficiently as possible with your true voice! I started lessons with Carrie just a few months ago because I was cast in a musical and needed some major help. I have some lifelong hang ups about people hearing me sing, and Carrie understands the psychological aspect quite well. She has helped me improve my voice tremendously in a short period of time, and just as importantly, she's giving me the confidence I need to let people hear it. Thank you for helping me shimmer, Carrie!

Carrie is an amazing vocal instructor. She has worked wonders with me, helping me achieve conscious control of my voice. I am amazed at the sounds which come out of me since studying with her- in a good way :)

She is also the nicest person imaginable and will have you laughing almost as much as you sing during a lesson. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

How often do you get to be taught by a living, breathing diva?! In the dictionary, it says a diva is a "usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality." Carrie's all that -- AND she loves to share her talents and skills to help you find your true voice. I've had the opportunity to work with Carrie for the past year and she's taken me from a timid, whispering alto to a much more confident "almost" soprano. She combines a solid technical approach and tailors it to your abilities and the way you learn to achieve your singing goals. The bonus is her enthusiasm, encouragement, and often wacky sense of humor. She is a WONDERFUL teacher. Sign up for lessons with her NOW!
