Active Learning Center is Reggio-inspired and much of our program is based on the Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Childhood Education. This approach advocates many aspects of children’s learning and focuses on the “whole child.” Possibly one of the most important ideas in a Reggio classroom is the image of the child. Children are seen as capable, creative beings and they, along with parents and teachers, are thought to be a partner in their own learning. It is a non-deficit approach and children are considered and celebrated by what they can do rather than judged by what they can’t do. Read more

The Active Learning Center has been an integral part of our family for nearly three years now. Their Reggio-based philosophy was a perfect match for our expectations of what early childhood education should look like. The staff has shown great concern for the positive outcomes of our son. We are so glad that we were lucky enough to secure a spot at this school; the experience, especially for our son, has been wonderful. He loves it and is thriving socially and emotionally.

The most caring facility that my daughter and son both thrived on. It prepared them for the challenges ahead. They knew my children and what was best for them!

We had two daughters attend the Active Learning Center (ALC). We can't say enough good things about the staff, the safety or the program. ALC allows children to be children, yet also prepares them for future learning. The staff is loving and nurturing. They recognize each child's unique gifts and help develop them in a developmentally appropriate manner. This center has been open for over 20 years and I hope it stays here for at least 20 more!
