Tango Lessons in LA

Dance Teacher

Maestro Marcos Questas originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina was captured by Tango at an early age. With a very successful professional Tango career in Buenos Aires, Europe, as well as the United States, he has dedicated himself exclusively to the art as well as teaching the Argentine Tango and its culture. Ruta Maria, an accomplished professional dancer, turned to tango for a single dance and has never looked back. Her professional style and technique has defined her tango career and enjoys teaching with a passion.

Together, Marcos and Ruta have performed at national and international festivals, appeared on television specials and produced tango events. More importantly, they continue to pursue the art they love while sharing it with their students right by their side. Always looking for innovative ways to share, express, teach and touch people through this form they created the Q Method of learning The Tango, a culmination of years of refining how to teach the rich Tango via natural movement while honoring the deeply-rooted origins and soft essence that only Tango holds. As a result, their students learn how to dance and enjoy the process of learning, making their lesson an “experience”. Read more

Marcos is a fantastic teacher. We had some rapid fire lessons with him and Ruta to prepare for our wedding, and due to timing constraints were only able to schedule three lessons. However, even in that short time, Marcos was able to choreograph a whole routine for us to our song of choice! He was patient in dealing with my newbie dancing skills and knew exactly how to show me how a certain movement by letting me "feel" the movement instead of simply following steps. I highly recommend Marco and Ruta for Tango lessons!

I started my Tango lessons with Marcos just one month ago and I already feel very lucky that I have found the best one in LA and OC area. He is such an experienced instructor that it is always a surprise to me each time when our session is over because there are still so much to learn. He is not only knowledgeable about the history, music and style of the dance, but also an expert on techniques. Those techniques he taught are important. They helped me greatly to avoid typical mistakes. Of course Marcos and Ruta also have many other advanced students. But as a total beginner, I just wanted to say that my own experience with him made me really happy. I truly believe he is the right one out there who will lead and guide me through this journey of searching the beauty of Argentine Tango.

I've been learning Argentine tango with Marcos and Ruta. This is one of the most creative and challenging things I've ever tried but Ruta and Marcos make it a lot of fun. They are amazing teachers who are true mastets at their craft. When it comes to authentic Argentine tango they are absolutely the best to learn from. I never thought I would be doing Argentine tango but now I look forward to going to practice every week with them. The experience has been absolutely awesome so far and I'm only just getting started. Would highly recommend them to my friends and one who wants to learn Argentine tango.

Argentine Tango lessons with Marcos and Ruta at Dance United are unbelievably enjoyable. Their method of teaching not only is friendly, warm, & fun, but it's full of valuable information that advances the learner quickly. The key word here is EFFECTIVE; every hour I have spent in private and group lessons this summer have resulted in a higher and more intricate level of understanding. The opportunity on Monday nights to attend their "practica" is the perfect environment for dancers to practice with others, inquire about personal technique, and enjoy an evening with wonderfully friendly people. When ready, a monthly Saturday night dance is available. Because of Ruta and Marcos I'm a very happy camper...uh...dancer. :) PS Love the large, recently remodeled studio, nice floor, beautiful elegant atmosphere. Karen S.

I have taken at least thirteen tango classes with Marcos as my teacher. He is a delightful human being, as well as a true tango maestro. It's been as much a pleasure learning the intricacies of this beautiful dance as it is to be able to dance with a partner so talented and patient.

... The studio itself is lovely, clean, and close to the 405 freeway. Parking can be in surrounding neighborhoods or paid parking is available on the street. The few times I've interacted with Marco's wife, and dancing partner Ruta, she has been absolutely delightful. All in all, I would highly recommend anyone desiring to learn tango to take classes from this talented, professional duo.
