Winter Sports and Cycling
That set the stage for our first meeting. We gathered two other interested investors and started to draft a business plan. Once the plan was set, all we needed was a building that was big enough and we could afford. That's when we spotted a small "for rent" sign on the door of an old 1860's livery stable. I will never forget walking into the building for the first time. Here was this old livery stable that had never been touched or remolded by anyone. It had high ceilings, pine floors, and large double hung windows. This building was a dream come true, great atmosphere. However, there was no heat or plumbing. The landlord of the building liked our idea and offered the building for $100 per month.
We finally got things together and opened on May 1, 1972. Things looked pretty sparse. Our opening inventory consisted of 12 ten speed bikes, 24 tennis racquets, a few hiking boots, tents, and backpacks. We sold the 12 bikes in three days then took the cash to Detroit to buy 15 more. We kept repeating this for over a month until we finally felt successful enough to have them shipped to us. That summer we sold over 400 bikes. Read more

Last year this time of season I purchased a children’s coat with all the super heroes with the mouth mask for my son and he loved it. It was such a good deal and with the store using the savings method when customers sign up for those perks gave me an option to purchase a child something that didn’t have much so thanks for serving the Saginaw community!

The Stable has been a staple in the old town and Saginaw Community for a very long time. I just recently bought my first quality bike from The Stables. As I know most of these people personally of course my experience was great. But on top of that the stable and its employees treated me just as they would any other customer. The staff at The Stable is very friendly and knowledgeable about everything related to downhill skiing, mountain biking, and road biking. I have my skis tuned there every year, and the turnaround on any type of service is very quick. They stock a nice selection of skis, ski boots, snowboards, cross country skis, mountain bikes, road bikes, and any accessories related to those sports. The end-of-season sales are also a great place to find good deals! ...
