Shivani Wells

Yoga Instructor, Yoga Therapist

As a yoga therapist, Shivani aims to help individuals discover that their own bodies are a resource for healing, insight, and empowerment. She has been in private practice since 2008 and specializes in trauma recovery, anxiety relief and embodied resilience. Her approach is based on Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, a holistic modality that combines embodied awareness, gentle movement and postures, empathetic dialogue, and humanistic psychology. Shivani also supports her clients with self-regulation skills, breath work, various trauma-informed approaches, and her passion for neuroscience.

Shivani is a Course Director for the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy school based in the United States. She is also a guest faculty member with the Vancouver School of Yoga and YYoga teacher training programs, and mentors new teachers through the YYoga mentorship program. She holds a BA in Psychology from UBC and is currently conducting research with the UBC Psychiatry department on the effects of yoga on the post-concussive syndrome. For this study, she developed the Mindful Brain Yoga intervention, an 8-week yoga, and meditation program for people with brain injury.
