San Antonio Eye Institute, PLLC

Ophthalmologist

We decided to do things differently at the San Antonio Eye Institute. First, we are a small, family-owned and operated medical practice. We have made every effort to control our overhead expenses which mean that our practice is not “a hungry monster”. We are under no pressure to see 50-60 patients per day make ends meet. This gives our doctors the opportunity to personally spend time with each of our patients. In addition, we do not order tests without a definitive reason for ordering it and we do not perform procedures unless it’s necessary and the benefits truly outweigh the risks. This may not be the case in “hungry monster” practices.

The first thing that you may notice at the San Antonio Eye Institute is that all critically important aspects of your exam will be performed by a doctor, not an “assistant”. This includes things like measuring your eye pressure, obtaining a refraction for glasses, and examining your eyes. Any measurements required for surgery will be performed by the doctor. Does this mean you’ll never meet one of our assistants? No, our assistants may help us by measuring your vision, taking historical information and performing visual fields and optic nerve scans. The way we do things has been intentionally designed to give you adequate time to your doctor. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and get answers to your questions. Read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Relief Jones (the 3rd :) for going on six years. He's the finest injector I've ever experienced and totally ethical. The fact he is an Ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) makes him supremely qualified to administer botox properly. .... His placement esthetic leaves you looking refreshed, balanced and relaxed, not "overdone". He also doesn't inflate his prices. Since I've known Dr. Jones he has always followed fair market values. He's also a participant in the Brilliant Distinctions program set forth by Allergen (the legitimate maker of authentic Botox) which is really nice because you get $20 off your NEXT treatment every time you go. … I trust Dr. Jones to carefully handle and administer my product every time, and that gives me tremendous peace of mind. As an esthetician, I also refer my clients to him because I know they will be in equally good, gentle hands. Thank you, Dr. Jones!!

If you want a nice, patient doctor who listens to your needs about your vision, these are the doctors to see. I've seen them both but Dr. Jones is my original eye doctor for treating my uveitis for the past 10 yrs. Best recommendation ever and I followed him from the original group he was with off of 281 to his current private practice. They are both very knowledgeable and treat you like a friend rather than a patient. I highly recommend them for your eye care needs.

I'm so happy to have found this place! I've been to at least 6 different places for routine and acute issues over the years, and this is the first that I will happily come back to. The waiting room and exam room were clean, updated and relaxing (far cry from the last two I visited). Dr. Triana was friendly, patient, thorough and considered much of my medical history when doing her exam. She even said it wasn't completely necessary for a followup visit unless I had concerns- a far cry from the other places I've vistited that insisted on useless followups just to collect another office fee. I'll be back!
