I tried salsa over 10 years ago in a club setting (2 hour class before the party starts) and it didn't click. ... Miguel is an incredible dancer, an attentive teacher and a generous human being. I've been to several other teachers and he's the only one that focuses as much on how women should move as the men. His hip movements put us ladies to shame!

Portland is very lucky to have him teaching there. Go. Take his class, keep coming, it will be worth it.

Miguel was my very first Cuban Salsa instructor in Oakland when I started down the Cuban style path over a year ago now. He is quite a talented Salsa dancer with a very welcoming, supportive and fun attitude as an instructor. And, he brings a certain, extra Latin "sabor" to his classes that is hard to find and much appreciated. He will not only introduce you to the basics of salsa turns, patterns and footwork, but he will also emphasize body movement for both men and women - an important element often neglected. His classes typically (but not always) start with a "suelta" footwork warm-up before moving on to partner work. Then, he often finishes with a fun Rueda, emphasizing the patterns just learned. I have taken both group classes and private lessons from Miguel and can recommend him highly. His former students here in the Bay Area, myself included, miss him dearly now that he is in Portland.

I remember watching Miguel dance for the first time and I told my self that I wanted to learn how to dance like him. ... The way he brakes things down when it comes to basics it helped me out so much on the dance floor. What kept me coming back to his class was his style of dancing Salsa/Timba you are learning something new every time. Another thing about taking Miguel's class is you are going to meet and be inspired by others.
