Most services are free or very inexpensive because it is run entirely by volunteers and donations.. And when not too busy, they can teach you how to take care of your own bike.

Great place to buy used bikes and help on fixing your bike. Keep in mind this is a non-profit and not your typical bike retailer, you do the repairs yourself and they offer guidance and parts. The staff were very helpful in guiding me thru the replacement broken spokes on both of my rims, this cost me only $5.00 and a bike shop would have charged $40 to $60.

while I don't mind paying for all the services I get here, I like learning things like truing my wheel, cleaning my chain and gears and scoping out the bikes they've put together for my next bike.

There is no need to take your bike to a repair shop when a place like this is around. I love the atmosphere and the people are happy to guide you along the way to fix your bike.

They teach you to handle your own repairs instead of doing repairs for you. Mechanical independence is amazing--go get you some!
