Bike Mechanic

This all started when Brian Mikiten was in the market to buy a bike in San Antonio, hoping to lose weight. All the shops he visited tried to sell him on aggressive race bikes that didn't fit his needs or frame. They were padding their bottom line at the cost of setting him up to fail.

It was this search that made him realize San Antonio needed a new kind of bike shop: one that cared about the customer and would spend the time to ensure they had a bike they could ride comfortably and safely. A bike shop for life. Your life.

With the racing pedigree he earned in his 20s and ten years of shop experience at Bike Barn in the 70s and early 80s, he revamped an existing bike shop that quickly rose to prominence in the SA market, setting itself apart from the competition with its friendly technicians, honest salespeople, and community outreach programs.

This is the second iteration of that dream, staffed with the very same team that got thousands of Texans up and riding, whether it was their first mile, or their first Century ride. We're excited to bring this vision to its fullest potential to Huebner and NW Military in 2017. Read more

Billy is the bomb! Awesome dude, wouldn't give up on trying to figure out what was going on with my brand new bike. Super convenient since they come to you. Ended up being a defective part on my month old bike and Billy replaced the part then and there. Runs like a charm now! All 1 day before a bicycling event I was participating in! Will def continue to use you guys for my bicycling needs.

Top notch shop. My brother gave me an older Trek 830 for my son so he could try out his first "real" bike. It needed new tubes, tires, was missing a seat, brakes, and needed adjustments and I didn't want to spend a lot getting it trail ready. Crossroads did a great job turning it into a bike again and kept the parts costs low. They didn't try to sell me a new bike or high end parts - no pressure at all, and my son loves the bike. Once he out grows or outrides it, we'll definitely be back to Crossroads for a new one.

What a great place. I went there yesterday to visit the shop for the first time. Billy was very nice and knowledgeable. He showed me the entire shop and introduced my to the staff. I left there really impressed and happy to see the shops locations isn't far from my house. Unbeknownst to me later that afternoon I was placing pedals back on my bike (just returned from a Colorado vacation and rented a bike up there) and the first 2 grooves on my drive side crank was stripped. I thought of this shop and called them at 6pm on a Friday. I immediately drove back up there. Billy had the proper tool and fixed my bike within 10 minutes What a relief as I had plans for an early morning ride on Saturday. I know that we have a several choices in San Antonio for bike shops, and yes some are good. This one stands out for many reasons in my mind. PASSION run deep in this shop. I would highly recommend you visit and give them a shot. They even have a full mobile service available.

I just started biking this week in an effort to try something new. My friend led me here because he said that they have good bikes & quality service. Well Fernando got me all fit up with a nice bike; I got some good equipment, & on literally my first ride, I took a really bad spill & messed up my bike/helmet. My bike was no longer in working order; I was shaken up & pretty discouraged from riding again. Well everyone here was extremely sympathetic & accommodating. Fernando was so helpful; he fixed my bike right up, & now I feel encouraged to get back out there & try it again (once the bruises heal). I can tell that they treat their customers like family & that's a rarity. Thanks Crossroad Bikes for being awesome!
