What it means is the difference between shops is greater than the difference in bike brands. So, what you are actually buying when you buy a bicycle is a relationship with that bike shop.
At a good shop, you'll get lots of attention to how your bike will fit, and good advice from staff that listens to your concerns. You'll find educational seminars, good educational materials, and long term staff members in every department.

They build beautiful, thoughtful bicycles and their staff is amazing. They are the shop I bring all my bikes to for superior service and parts. One day I hope to be able to afford one of their framesets.

I had a bike fitted and built, Smiley and Dan took care of me. They spent hours answering my questions about the best bike and accessories for me and how best to work around the arthritis in my hands. When the bike was complete, the wrong disc brake was delivered. They put a mechanical disc brake (so I could ride the stp) on until the hydraulic was delivered. I returned to the shop at my convenience and they removed the mechanical brake and installed the hydraulic. They are a fantastic bike shop. I wish I would have found them when I first started riding 30 years ago. The bike fits like a glove with less pain and loads more pleasure. I would highly recommend R and E Cycles, Dan, Smiley, and the crew!

I arrived 15 minutes before closing to get a new seat post for a new saddle, and left with an adjusted bike to fit me better. Smiley went way above and beyond to help me! I can't recommend R+E Cycles more!

Still remember the first-class service I received when I bought my Rodriguez road bike 20 years ago, and my bike is still going strong!! Even though I live a-ways up north now- if I ever needed a new bike, R&E would be the first place I'd go. No doubt about it.

Great service! After buying a beautiful Rodriguez road bike last year and enjoying the custom fit, I realized I could be a lot more comfortable on a touring bike that I had purchased from another shop. I brought it in to R+E and Smiley turned my touring bike into a "love it" ride with his expert fit adjustments.
