The studio: Promethean Studios, with two locations in Plano and Richardson, was founded in 1991 by Mark Black and offers beginner through professional level lessons, in all styles of music, on guitar, piano, drums and percussion, voice, keyboard, bass, sax, flute, oboe, music composition, song writing, music theory, praise and worship, and other areas. Promethean Studios also offers bands in many different styles of music. We have taught thousands of students from around the world. By using skilled, personable teachers, emphasizing music theory and instrumental and vocal technique, and allowing students to play and sing music they love, we've created an atmosphere of excellence, accomplishment, and enjoyment.

We have a high success ratio with our students because they learn techniques that work, they understand music and how to make it work for them, and they get to play the music they like.     I've been taking bass lessons for approximately two years with Mark, and I'm pleased with the progress that I've made. The lessons are logically sequenced and build upon important concepts, but he also provides time in the lessons for students to choose songs or skills they want to learn, making sure that you are motivated to practice. ... When it comes to playing music, I think it's safe to say that everyone wants to improve as quickly as they can, but unless you're gifted and/or a genius, I've found that a good teacher--like Mark--is necessary to help you reach your goals.

    I have taken voice lessons from Mark Black for ten years. During that time I went on and off between learning about other instruments as well, specifically piano and guitar. Mark is one of the most talented people I have ever met. ... I could go on and on about him for days, but I encourage you to find this out on your own and TAKE LESSONS FROM THIS STUDIO. Mark Black and the rest of his staff are fantastic and you will not be disappointed.

    My 8 year old son has been taking guitar lessons for over a year and he loves it. He gets to choose what songs he learns, alongside proper music theory and practical skills for improvisation, technique, and ear training. Mr. Black provides the right balance of serious study and fun play.
