Jennifer Schonborn, AADP

Nutritionist

I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I received my training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA ChooseMyPlate, the glycemic index, the Paleo diet, and raw foods. In addition to counseling, I've done a bi-weekly nutrition column for AOL's ParentDish blog, and I've written about nutrition for Glamour.com and Examiner.com. I've been featured or quoted in Teen Vogue, Mashable, New York Family, Brooklyn Paper, and Park Slope Reader.

As a holistic nutrition counselor, I have studied all the major dietary theories and will help you discover what approach works best for you so that you can achieve your health goals, whether that's getting rid of your IBS symptoms for good, overcoming your emotional or binge eating, or dropping those extra pounds. While most dietitians dwell on calories, carbs, fats, proteins, restrictions, and lists of good and bad foods, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun, and free of denial and discipline. Jen is fantastic!

I just recently finished a 6-month program with her and I can't speak more highly of the experience. I looked forward to our sessions every week and the knowledge and skills I would gain.

… I lost 15 lbs over the course of 6 months and my energy greatly improved. I still have 10 lbs to go but feel confident with my new skill set that I will reach my goal.

Since nutrition and work/life balance go hand in hand, I found Jen not only to be my nutritionist but also a mentor. Her calm approach is what you need to tackle any kind of nutrition or weight issue. Jen is the best and anyone would be lucky to have her as a guide!

I signed up for the 3-month program and it changed my life. I learned how to eat for my body and fell in love with cooking all over. I've never felt healthier in my whole entire life! I'd recommend working with her to anyone! Jen rocks!

The sessions with Jen have changed the way I approach food, stress, and life in general. Jen helped me make healthier food choices and focus on portion control. I wanted to figure out whether I had any food intolerances, and with her help, I figured out that I am very intolerant of dairy and mildly intolerant of gluten. She even helped me wean myself off of a nasty simple carbohydrates addiction and rein in my out-of-control cravings. With her guidance, I am on my way to losing 15 pounds and feeling the best I have ever felt in my life. Thank you so much for your help, Jen!

Working with Jen was a terrific experience. She truly helped get not just my diet and food habits in check, but pretty much my day-to-day life as well. I've taken away some great long-term solutions to my food shopping, cooking, eating, sleeping, and exercise routines. I just feel overwhelmingly better all around compared to 6 months ago, and I really have Jen to thank for it.
