Arborist
Chad played an integral role in creating an edible Portland by organizing a fruit tree giveaway in 1997, which has since distributed more than 20,000 trees. (He received NPR’s E-town award for the effort.) He has helped to create naturescapes and gardens in four Portland public schools. In 2009, he was the recipient of the City of Portland Bill Naito Award for sustained dedication to Portland’s urban forest and improving Portland’s environment in a lasting way. This is the best crew for cutting and managing trees and the most responsive office staff to communicate scheduling and follow up on the day of service.

I highly recommend Honl for tree care- I have lots of trees, slopes along the road bed and years of stewarding this land. They care about the trees and are willing to take the time to educate and work with the homeowner.

I called Chad about an estimate, described what I needed, and he was able to come out a week later without me being at the house to assess the tree that needed to be pruned. His quote was lower than the previous estimate I had so I decided to go with him. They were able to schedule the work a week later (the previous arboist was a one month wait) and he did the work without me being there as well. The work looks nice and the yard was free of all debris except a few leaves and walnuts which fall regularly anyway. Overall a great experience since it didn't require me to miss any time at work, it was done in a timely manner, and was good work.

I was so impressed with Honl. The professional who advised me on the significant prune of my overly large maple was very knowledgeable, and the arborist who did the work stayed in touch with me via text while he was working since I couldn't be at home that day. They did a beautiful job, were efficient, communicative and easy to work with!
