We serve patients both without and with insurance. We accept many insurance plans, including VSP, MES (Medical Eye Services), EyeMed including UC Davis SHIP and GSHIP, Medicare, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and more. Great staff - very knowledgeable and friendly. They take their time to explain the whole process to you so you understand what the measurements mean that they are taking. They always seem to have the latest technology for the eye exams (they have other options to do full eye exams without dilating your eyes). Dr. Baker is the best, he's very kind and agreeable. Again, he also takes the time to explain to you the results of the test and what options you have. If you need an eye doctor, eye exam or new glasses - I highly recommend this place.

Helmus + Baker is top notch! Everyone there is extremely professional, and staffed by knowledgeable and friendly employees. The place is spotless, bright, has customer parking and just enjoyable to be in. I made my appointment online, and you can opt for text reminders, email or both. I've been a patient since 2015, and am still as pleased today as I was two years ago. Dr. Baker has a great sense of humor and demeanor, and he is laser focused (bad pun) when he's doing the exam and explanations. I am also pleased with the large selection of frames and lenses, and while my prescription did not change, I did purchase prescription sunglasses, which is a first for me!

i adore this place! my family and i have been going here for years. i have never dreaded an appointment here. i broke my glasses while working and studying abroad and Susana worked quickly and provided me with several options, all the while providing the BEST customer service i've ever received. kind, professional, 5 stars. highly recommended!

All you get here is high quality, professional and courteous service. This is such a departure from the "assembly line" approach in other offices and in health care in general that Helmus and Baker deserve special mention. Everyone, ancillary staff and providers alike, are genuinely interested in providing the highest level of service and responsiveness to your needs. The process is seamless....email reminder of next appointment, make appointment on-line, update information on-line, and even get a text to remind/confirm upcoming appointment. This is the way everything should be but seldom is. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

I have a tricky prescription to work out and Dr. Baker and the entire staff at Helmus + Baker have been generous with their time and patience to get me set up with a comfortable new pair of glasses. What could have been a very stressful process was not difficult at all and I am very, very thankful for their help. I highly recommend them and will be returning for as long as I live in the area.
