Guitar for Adults

Music Teacher

I've been playing guitar for about two decades now and have had the pleasure of learning and performing a wide range of styles. At a young age, I became obsessed with the solo guitar techniques of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis - playing rhythm, lead and bass simultaneously. Once I got a set list together, I began performing at local farmers markets in the South Sound. As my skill began to grow, I expanded my repertoire to include classical guitar and fingerstyle tunes from other guitar greats.

In high school, I got my first electric guitar, and felt the excitement of taking solos and writing songs with a band. I began to compose my own songs and ultimately decided to study Music Composition at Seattle Pacific University, where I spent 4 years honing in on music theory, ear training and a writing a wide range of composition styles, from Bach's 4-part choral harmonies, to Brahms' Cello and Piano Sonatas, to more modern styles and techniques.

Scott has an excellent skill set to tailor a unique lesson to those who have picked up a guitar for the first time all the way to those looking to build on their own individual developed styles. I've been with Scott for 6 months now and I've learned a lot in his casual but value added environment. Whether you're looking for a very high level music theory centered curriculum or simply wanna jam to some of your favorite riffs, Scott makes a lesson designed for you. Would highly recommend him to any skill level wanting to learn bass, guitar, or general music theory

Scott has been awesome thus far! Bouncing between learning how to play, learning theory, learning songs.. it's a lot all at once and I definitely recommend doing an hour a week. But overall, enjoying Scott's enthusiasm and knowledge of the instrument.
