... Even though I've been living in New York for two years, I still make sure to see her every time I'm back in the area visiting family. She's very knowledgeable and explains things in a way that are easy for me to understand. The exam is always pretty quick and painless (except for that eye pressure test where they blow air into your eye, but there's no escaping that). I never feel rushed during the exam and Dr. Chon always discusses the different options in terms of prescription strength and contacts (dailies vs weeklies, etc.) to make sure that I get the best possible option for my use cases. The office is really clean and the staff at the front desk are always very friendly and welcoming. I can make appointments and get my prescription through email, which is really super convenient.

This review is for Dr. Chon only. She is the only eye doctor to have gotten my eye prescription right in my 20 years of wearing glasses. I praise her for ability to pinpoint my eye prescription accurately. Other eye doctors have made my vision worse since my youth. Many pairs of eye glasses never felt right. Too much eye strain, wrong power, wrong corrections. See Dr. Chon for your prescription because she's great.

I've been seeing Dr. Song for ten years and could not be more pleased. ... He is constantly focused on ways he can improve my vision and comfort with my contact lenses. For example, once he got my prescription right, he kept trying to find lenses with better oxygen flow to keep my eyes in better health. Then I mentioned my eyes were dry and he switched me over to contacts that have helped his other patients with dryness. … He is also approachable and will patiently explain the answer to any technical questions you may have. He told me once that he has patients who drive down from Maryland to continue seeing him, and I can see why.

Dr. Chon, the optometrist I saw here, is very sharp. She is young, and seems to be well-versed in more modern patient evaluation techniques. I'm not an expert, but I noticed during my exam, she did several additional checks that I have not seen other optometrists do. …

I have somewhat severe nearsightedness (contact lens diopters -10 each), so I can be difficult to fit. But Dr. Chon was very patient, and gave me a great fit for new glasses.
The only downside is that they dropped my vision insurance (UnitedHealth Vision) the month after my visit, so I will need to switch to keep going here. Based on my research, none of the best optometrist (as rated on Yelp) in Northern Virginia take United Vision now, which tells me that insurance is terrible...time to switch.
