Penny helped me with a rather large project! I owe Penny and her team my life and my sanity! I had a major flood in my house which damaged both upstairs and downstairs!
I needed a contractor and designer ASAP!
I contacted Penny and she acted fast! She immediately made a plan to rebuild! She coordinated painters, contractors, handymen, electricians and a clean up crew!
She kept me informed of every step that was occurring! There were no surprises!
I was back in my house in less than 3 weeks, which was amazing considering the damage! Every item that had been moved was put back exactly as I had it before!
Penny and her team were a dream to work with! I'd recommend her to anyone who is serious about creating a plan and following through!

... Our decision points for selecting Elements in Design for our remodel included: 1) Penny's previous projects demonstrate that she can deliver design to the homeowner's tastes and budget; 2) Penny serves as both designer and contractor; 3) Penny had worked with HOA's and our retirement home is in a gated community/country club area in Palm Desert; 4) Element's in Design fee structure was fair and consistent with our budget.

This remodel was extensive and happened over a summer in the desert. There were issues and problems, of course. Even though problems got downright bizarre at times, the issues were less difficult than those we encountered in our first remodel in San Diego, so we were able to stay calm for the most part. Penny dealt with everything professionally and sensitively. She accommodated some of our quirks that had impact on her designs. She kept us on track and guided us through the process of making great design and materials choices. ...

At the end of the day, we are so happy with the results that we have nothing but positive thoughts about the remodel. We get ooo's and ahh's from everyone, even four years after the completion of the project. ...

We recommend Elements in Design without a moment's hesitation.

I hired Elements in Design to partner with me to design our new kitchen extension in Ireland. I found working with Penny and her team to be very collaborative, insightful, creative, and forward-thinking. Penny designed a kitchen for me and my family to suit our very busy lives, and she developed solutions to problems that I never would have anticipated. Her design concepts were smart, clever, and in some cases--absolutely ingenious! I absolutely love the kitchen that she created; we are the true envy of all of our friends and neighbours! Well done, Penny and team, and a huge thank you....

I would highly recommend Penny Chin from Elements in Design. She knows her stuff, she is not only experienced but works efficiently and is always responsive and easy to contact. I am writing this review because after a year and half of our kitchen cabinets being installed we experienced some problems with the material used on the side of the doors. As it had been quite some time since we had been in contact with Penny, I didn’t expect her to be as responsive and responsible as she was. Within days she had the installer at our house replacing all the cabinet doors. She is a true professional and goes the extra mile for her clients.

Penny is a fun, creative designer. We enjoyed working with her throughout the entire process, which lasted for the better part of a year. She understood our style perfectly and is able to think out of the box. She is well versed in current design trends. Our original project was to add 25 square feet to the kitchen coupled with a remodel of the kitchen. The project grew from that to almost a whole house remodel, new flooring, paint, moldings, and bathrooms.

Penny has a great design sense and is not afraid to try new things, if that’s what is important to you. When we looked at counter top materials, I fell in love with the Cambria Cardigan Red color and would never have had the nerve to use it if it weren’t for Penny. A red topped island and glass back splash is not for everyone, but it works really well in our kitchen. We love it and have received a lot of compliments from others regarding the color choice.

Penny is extremely patient as we worked together through many meetings. She has a great sense of humor which is helpful, since remodeling can be so stressful.

We did a kitchen remodel in June ’14 with Penny and Colette. We so appreciated all of the design advice, designing, ordering, following up, errand running, coordinating of the sub contractors and pointing out details that we probably wouldn’t have noticed until after it was all done.

They made sure that we were satisfied with our kitchen. During the design process, Penny and Colette offered their opinions in a very open way. They helped us with our choices based on what we liked and presented suggestions/options that were in the budget.

It was a wonderful experience working with Penny Chin of Elements in Design. We bought a condo and gutted the kitchen and bathrooms, and Penny drew up flans to fulfill all of our storage needs. She was extremeley helpful in choosing new cabinets, the designs that we liked and the colors. Everything turned out beautifully. We are very grateful for her designs, her knowledge and expertise. We highly recommend her!

Penny Chin owns Elements in Design. She is both designer and general contractor which was a major factor in our selecting her company for the complete interior renovation as well as courtyard and patio of our country club condo. Designs and finishes were high quality. She worked effectively with the HOA. She “got” us and the style we were looking for. As well, she helped us design for aging in home, as we plan to live out our old age here.

We were not very disciplined with budget and I suppose there were times when she could have pushed back on us; but the fact is we love our home. It is everything we wanted and more. Penny was diligent in oversight of the work and we got no complaints from neighbors. She had good relationships with local suppliers. We are pretty easy going and flexible, and we appreciated Penny’s flexibility while at the same time, she kept us from making bad choices. Budgeting and accounting was professional and documented. No renovation is free of glitches, and we had a few. But they were handled professionally and satisfactorily.

We have been in our home for two trouble-free years. Everyone who visits, mentions how beautiful and functional our home is, and how well it reflects who we are. Overall, beauty and design were very important to us, and Penny’s company delivered beyond our expectations.

We are so very, very happy with our re-model! Our new kitchen is absolutely gorgeous thanks to Penny’s expertise and suggestions. We completely “gutted” the kitchen and have all new cabinets and appliances, paint etc. Of course, one thing leads to another so we now also have new flooring, window treatments, paint and wallpaper throughout the house. We could not be more pleased. The total project took about 4 months.

Penny’s design ideas, creativity and eye for color cannot be beat. Although hesitant at first about some of the color we are now so happy. All bathrooms have been re-done and are smashing.

Penny was very patient with us and always took the time to explain everything. She was also very responsive to emails and texts when I needed her help with a decision. All of her sub-contractors were also excellent.

Working with Elements in Design, I got a one woman contractor/designer which is handy because making big decisions is very difficult for us! She did it all from taking me shopping for draperies to helping me design the layout of my new kitchen and in-law unit! Unfortunately, in the end, we could not do the full remodel, but Penny helped us work within our budget which was just enough to give us that fresh look that we needed. Colette is wonderful to work with as well! When my husband and I get around to it, we will definitely ask Elements in Design to finish what we started!

Penny from elements in design was a joy to work with for our kitchen remodel project. She is a talented designer that was able to take the vision that we had and turn it into structural plans for the city and for the construction crew to follow. She was the utmost professional and exceeded our expectations by coming off with multiple design options for us to choose from and worked hard to stay within our budget. And she has reputable connections throughout the areas and was able to get us discounted pricing on a number of materials and services. The subcontractors works with were hard working, compassionate and kept our needs in mind throughout the duration of the project. We do not hesitate to recommend Penny and Elements in Design.
