Since he was 8 years old, Sam has been drumming away trying not to disturb his neighbors. Studying with renowned LA/Orange County jazz drummer and bandleader, Evan Stone, little Sammy established a solid musical foundation. After moving to the Seattle area, he continued his drum set studies with Garey Williams and meanwhile took up Latin percussion, studying under “JC” Johnny Conga. Still craving more, Sam traveled to Brazil twice to study pandeiro and Brazilian percussion with Clarice Magalhães and Julio Braga. A substantial portion of his record collection is made up of albums purchased in Brazil. Sam says some of his greatest influences have been “traveling, going to shows, and listening to tons of records during college.” Read more

My 8 year old daughter has taken drum lessons with Sam at kaleieoscope music in Issaquah for almost a year now. He has been amazing with her, patient, fun, inspiring. She loves rocking out with him and she is normally really shy. Recommend Sam without reservation for lessons and he's is easy to work with regarding our sometimes changing schedule needs. He is also a great drummer in a couple of bands and we have heard him play. Thanks Sam!

Sam has been a real find to our family. As a teacher, Sam is patient, encouraging and quick to adapt to his students' different learning styles. I am often amazed how he manages to engage my energetic 8 year old in the lessons and together they are making great progress. I also appreciate that Sam pays great attention to technique whilst making the lessons flow nicely. Highly recommended!

Sam is a terrific drum teacher! He's been teaching my daughter for almost a year and she couldn't be happier. Her drumming as improved dramatically after starting with him. She drummed for several years prior to Sam and was pretty bored with the instruction. Sam loves many styles of music and plays with a few different bands. She always enjoys the lesson, often trying out new stuff in the car on the way home. In addition to being a fun, wide-ranging teacher, he's also one of the nicest people you could know.
