Debbie Oliver

Veterinarian

I grew up in rural Ohio on 6 acres of undeveloped land. I saw snakes, spiders, deer, raccoons, muskrat, on a daily basis. I spent all of my free time outside observing animals. I had ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, parakeets and many other pets.

I received a Bachelor of Arts from The Exotic School of management and training from Moorpark College. I trained rats, chickens, wild pigs, and a lion. Exotic animals became a passion.

I began working in the circus after school. I raised and trained tigers. We had about 65 gold and white tigers, several elephants, a lion, and several bears. I worked closely with the veterinarian. Read more

This is one of the few places that specialize in small animals around the West LA area. Dr. Debbie Oliver specializes in exotic and small animals. I took my guinea pig to see her when I thought he had skin issues. She was very friendly, quick, and efficient. I was out the door in less than 20 minutes, and the best part was that I was able to squeeze in a last minute appointment with her!

I recently moved to the area and I'm so happy to have found such a wonderful veterinarian's office! I've taken both of my cats here and seen three of their doctors on different occasions (Drs. Baum, Oliver, and Quel), all of whom were caring, friendly, patient with my 100 questions, and most importantly knowledgeable. The vet techs and front desk staff have always been super nice and helpful, both in person and over the phone. ...

I have a 2 year old bearded dragon named hellboy and didn't know why he wasn't eating right for 2 weeks. All I can say I make an appointment with Dr Oliver. She figured what was wrong in a matter of seconds. She was very sweet and very kind to us and our hellboy. The visit was extremely cheap as well. Dr Oliver made the difference. She knows what she's doing and she really cares. Best reptile vet ever. Thank you Dr Oliver. Make your appointment with her she is a reptile specialist who really cares.

Dr. Debra Oliver is here. She treated my dog for internal inflammation that was preventing him from eating. Her work emphasizes making the animal comfortable, for example she wanted to look into the dog's mouth, but it seemed to cause him pain so she did not force it. I appreciate that kind of responsiveness a lot.

They have blood exam machines here, so the blood test results were ready while I waited. Dr. Oliver let me talk with her via email during the weeks of treatment, which is super nice, I wish my kid's pediatrician was like that too. Very supportive, sensitive to owner and patient.

I specifically went to see Dr. Debbie Oliver, who was referred to me by a friend who loves her pets as we do. ... Dr. Oliver treats our pets as if they are her own and doesn't make you feel foolish for loving them as we do. Her advice has been spot on and she doesn't over-treat or under-treat. She looks at what is in the pets' best interest and isn't looking to rush you and not explain or seeking the almighty dollar. Her experience with everything from big cats to hamsters is so amazing and only trumped by her humility and genius, kindness, and compassion. If you love your little ones, they couldn't be in better hands. ...
