Chef Eric Youel has been in the food business for nearly two decades. He brings over 16 years of culinary industry experience to the kitchen, working as a full-service event caterer for intimate social gatherings, large corporate events, and weddings. As a graduate of the Los Angeles Catering Institute, Eric acquired Portland catering company Chef du Jour Catering in Portland in August of 2006. One of the most stressful parts in planning our wedding was working with Eric. His food wasn't up to par with the rest of the venue that required us to use his service- I feel like he took advantage of that. Our tasting was in a dirty room off of his kitchen and he wore a sweatshirt & jeans... really? Also, he wouldn't make the whole menu to taste. When we asked for a second tasting to try something else he wanted to charge us for it (more than the cost of a full meal for a wedding guest). Luckily our venue found us a different company- Premiere Catering- right before our wedding and they were fantastic.

Not only was the pricing the most reasonable out of the caterers we had met with, but the food is amazing! We got so many compliments on the food throughout the night! The caterers were so nice and helpful throughout the night. The lead made sure to introduce himself to myself and my husband, and they were just so great and fun throughout the night! Eric was great from the beginning and made everything very easy for us. He also let us drop kegs off at his office and pick them up after the wedding. Beginning to end, great experience.

Eric was the caterer that came with our wedding venue. His food is soooo good! We had an initial tasting where Eric prepared a few entrees and appetizers for us, and we picked our favorites. We had a buffet for the wedding, and our guests RAVED about the food. I can't even count how many compliments we got about the food. Eric is also super nice and easy to communicate with over email. We strongly recommend him for your events!

eric and his crew were amazing. we booked him for our wedding and our guests could not stop talking about how amazing the food was. eric was awesome at keeping in touch with us throughout the planning, met up with us at our venue to go over everything a month or so before and even helped us with last minute troubleshooting like getting a tap that fit our keg 15 mins before the ceremony started. all of his staff were super sweet, amazing to our guests and even helped with some of the clean up which was not something they were hired to do. if you want someone who is an amazing chef, organized and personable, eric is your guy.

Chef Du Jour Catering catered our daughters wedding at Ainsworth House. Eric was great to work with! We were able to use the salmon I bought back from Kodiak as well as the wine we had for her wedding. The food was displayed beautifully and everyone raved about how delicious it was. The staff he furnished were polite and very attentive to the needs of the guests. I highly recommend Eric and Chef Du Jour Catering!
