Bridgetown Baby

Doula

Every baby is a life-changing gift, but sometimes the transition can be challenging or overwhelming. A postpartum doula provides a bridge of support as you grow into your new life by providing expertise, resources, and an extra set of hands so you and your family can rest and bond with your new baby. The word “doula” comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves.” A postpartum doula mothers the mother.

Bridgetown Baby was founded by Merriah Fairchild and Rose Otter, certified Postpartum Doulas and Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). However you come to parenting— via adoption, surrogacy, or birth— our doulas provide comprehensive postpartum care to help families grow with strength and confidence. Bridgetown Baby is a bridge to your new life. Read more

I really appreciate all that I learned at Birthingway, and the lovely staff. I learned a great deal more than just midwifery; becoming a midwife is an initiation, and I couldn't have picked a better school to learn how to serve families.

The ladies at Bridgetown were an amazing help during our first couple of weeks home with our son. They allowed me and my husband to get some desperately needed sleep, helped me work through some of my nursing difficulties, and kept the baby well fed and happy. It was amazing to wake up in the morning feeling well rested and have the laundry done, the kitchen cleaned up, and some fruit salad, frittata, or cookies waiting for us. They were a great resource for first time parent questions and also helped connect us with other providers in town.

Bridgetown Baby postpartum doulas Merriah Fairchild, Rose Otter and Catherine Akerson Bailey all worked with the twins, demonstrating how to get them to breastfeed and bottle-feed at the same time, and how to massage their tiny bellies to relieve pressure, burp them and wear them around the house in a wrap. The doulas also assisted with practical things, like setting up an organized bottle-feeding system and figuring out which bottles and nipples worked best. ...

Get these lovely ladies to help you after you have a baby! Call them now! Even if you have plenty of friends and family in town, there is nothing like these spectacular post-partum doulas. They will make you food, provide breastfeeding support, and help you understand how to adjust to life with a new a baby (or more than one baby). Mariah and Rose are professional, personable, and intuitive. Unlike friends and family who may be inexperienced with the needs of a post-partum family, these ladies understand what you are going through. They will help make the transition much smoother. I highly recommend them!
