Tutor

When I first started tutoring, I had no idea what I was doing. I just put an ad up on craigslist and responded to every person who emailed me. I remember getting so frustrated that I put in my ad things like, "I'm sorry, but I do NOT work with elementary school children. Only Pre-Algebra and above." I would get three emails from parents of 7-10-year-olds. Seriously. How much more clear could I be? I realized that people didn't really READ the ads. It was frustrating to spend time trying to tweak the ad to be enticing, and realize that no one actually read it.

I was lucky, though, because, after the first few students, I had referrals from them for more students that were friends or relatives of the first clients. Some of them had younger siblings. So, for a few years, nearly all my clients were referrals from previous clients. That was wonderful! No advertising and the new ones were already inclined to hire me because of their friends! Woot! Jennifer Wagner tutored my daughter in Algebra and Algebra 2 over 2 school years. She is an excellent tutor and I recommend her without hesitation. Jennifer presented math in a non-threatening way that enabled my daughter to learn and progress in ways she had never been able to in the classroom. Most regular classroom teachers only know one way to teach, and math is not a one-size-fits-all subject. ...

Ms. Wagner worked with our daughter to help her with Algebra 2. Before she was really struggling and her grade was a low D. She was failing tests and home work assignments and she felt defeated and frustrated with the entire subject. After working with Ms. Wagner she went from that D to a B. We were very impressed with her ability to teach the subject in a way that our daughter could understand. ...

Jennifer has been working with my daughter for over a Year. During that time she has increased her study and math skills and has become a true advocate for success. She has not only increased her math skills but has successfully gotten her through Algebra 1 . . . . which made her eligible to take Geometry her Sophmore year. . . Math has always been a weak subject and she couldnt have made it this far without Jennifer's Help-- Thank you Jennifer

You have a gift of diagnosing students’ weak areas, prescribing just what the student needs to learn, you teach them and they experience success. I remember that you knew just what to ask Stef to do for you. You quickly learned what her gaps were. Then you started teaching her what she needed to know thus filling in the gaps and building a sound foundation for Success!
