There is a zero discrimination policy at 2nd cycle. They ensure that everybody has a working bike to get them where they need to go. 2nd cycle also has wonderful youth programs and helps the Tacoma homeless population.

We had a really good time.. It was also our very first visit to the glass museum since we moved out here from NY State 3 years ago. It was an amazing venue and the bike jump was super fun. Even the downpour of rain didn't spoil it for us. I was more than happy to support this cause! I hope you will do it again next year.

What is 2nd Cycle good for?
Used bikes (from donated ones, to ones built-up by their crack staff and/or kid & adult volunteers).
Bicycle repair (d.i.y. using their tools and sweet stands, or drop it off, or they will help you do it if you're like me and can't do it my damn self but wanna try anyway).
Shows (they often have shows to benefit their programs, or just to support the community).
Accessories (doodads, whatnots, you get me).
    Parts (used, reasonably priced).
Programs (kids building and keeping their own bikes, sponsoring community rides, ladies night repair events).
In other words, 2nd Cycle is good for our community.

This shop is great. They know how to teach with patience. Every time I go I have a lot of questions and they answer them over and over...until I get it. Then they let you do the repair yourself if you want to. Win win- my money goes to a great cause and I learn applicable information. Great concept. Keep it up and I'll keep coming back.

I visited 2nd Cycle for the first-time today and I had a great experience. Context: I was converting my bike from 27" to 700c wheels and I had no idea what I was doing. Upon walking in I was greeted and after talking about my bike work I was taken to the open work area where children, teens, and adults were tuning and building bikes!

Upon sight of this open work area with stands and tools I instantly saw the value this shop has for the city and neighborhood. The staff are super helpful and there is a great mix of new/used and expensive/affordable components. I will be back!
