Gardening

Patrick is a contemplative landscape designer with vision and a vivid imagination. Often referred to as a "Garden Artist" his design style prioritizes aesthetics, sustainability; most certainly function, and very often fun. He likes to set plants in layers utilizing long drafts of perennials to add color and motion with highlights of specimen plants for interest.

A gardener at heart he understands that working with the hands is a requirement of the art. Having long been inspired by the wild of the outdoors, he seeks to solve the challenges nature presents with sustainable solutions. Patrick earned an Associate degree in Landscape Design and Horticulture from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1996. In 2006 he earned a bachelors degree in International Studies from American University in Washington, D.C. Read more

Patrick was amazing to work with on our new front yard landscape design! Having worked with other landscape designers in the past, I can say with confidence that Patrick's process stands out. He is extremely thoughtful in his consideration of your particular tastes, what problems you're hoping to address, what plants you like/dislike, all of it! ... I trusted Patrick so much that I asked for his recommendations on contractors to implement his design. We hired one of his recommendations and having just completed the project, I am happy to report that our new front yard looks fantastic and the implementation went smoothly! If you need a re-design of your yard, you must hire Patrick!

Patrick with Wheel and Barrrow does an excellent job taking the homeowner through the design process. He knows how to design a space well whether it is a dense shade area, full sun area, or high traffic area. He knows his plant material well and has good solutions to spaces that are sometimes difficult to put to good use. As a landscape contractor it is always comforting when we know we are installing Patrick's designs because of the specificity called out in the plans, intellegent use of space, and the accuracy of the plans. We highly recommend Patrick for designing your landscape space!

I booked a consultation with Patrick, and I immediately knew I wanted to work with him. He innately understood my unruly yard and knew exactly what it needed. He's calm, thoughtful, creative, and provided me with a very reasonable and timely bid (especially considering all that needed done). The initial result is excellent, and I am thrilled. He and Kindra were both so fantastic and friendly, and I seriously think they did the work of four people - tons of weeding, mulching, pruning, culling, and generally making everything beautiful. ... And I am the bigger winner because I previously had a yard/garden that I was overwhelmed by, and now I have a yard that I am incredibly happy about and proud of. I'll work with Wheel & Barrel as long as they'll have me!

Timely, thorough, attentive, detailed, intuitively knows how to make your outdoor space look it's best. We hired Patrick to do a tidy-up-and-make-it-look-nice-for-selling-our-house job. Our yards have never looked better. Wheel & Barrow will definitely be our go-to landscape design and maintenance for any future yards we own.

We have an 8 unit condo association in St Johns. Patrick has done our landscape maintenance for the last 2 years. He is awesome. Our landscape was lacking in proper maintenance so he did a big clean up to start. Now with regular maintenance he keeps the property looking great. We have increased his budget for some major changes over the next couple of years. He is dependable and reliable and does very nice work and is a nice person. Can you ask for anything more?
