Touchstone Climbing

Climbing Gym

Touchstone Climbing owns and operates eleven unique gyms throughout California, making it the largest indoor climbing company in the world. But our true success comes not from what we do, but why we do it. From owners to belay staff, route setters to cyclists, we believe in creating a place where we can all come together and do what we love. We are not just gyms. We are communities. Whether you are an experienced climber, a bright-eyed newbie, or just someone looking for a great place to work out, you’ll find your place with Touchstone Climbing.

2016 has been a busy year, and it’s not over yet! Already we’ve opened Hollywood Boulders, expanded our rope climbing area at Cliffs of Id, and expanded Dogpatch Boulders to include more climbing, a yoga studio, and a bigger fitness and training area. Read more

Great place to climb if you're in the area. Although it's only bouldering the problems they have are both difficult and enjoyable.

Touchstone runs a wonderful collection of Bay Area climbing gyms. I've been a member for years and have visited most.

One cheap-ish membership, multiple gyms in the bay area and beyond. Also yoga classes included. My favorite: Dogpatch boulders in SF!

Touchstone is a wonderful company. They manage their gyms well, and seem to really care about their climbers and the greater Bay Area community and beyond. One of my favorite aspects of the company is their desire for their gyms to really fit in with whatever neighborhood they're located in. No obnoxiousness here! The company is currently trying to open a bouldering gym in an old theatre in North Berkeley, and they are working hard with community members to make sure everyone is on board. They plan to keep the beautiful outside of the building the same and are hoping to bring more customers to nearby shops in the area. I have also had many positive experiences with the staff at multiple gyms and enjoy the various activities they put on. They are also big supporters of several non-profit groups and have multiple opportunities for their members to contribute (e.g. selling off old climbing holds, with all profits going to The Access Fund). All around, big fan!

    AMBIENCE
The surrounding areas around Pipeworks is somewhat off of midtown where a good number of homeless people may be roaming so be aware of the surroundings/your belongings in your car. Aside from that, there is super ease of parking, and a nearby building where a brewery will be established in the next year. ...
