Spot On Training

Pet Services

As the role of the dog has evolved from that of a working species, to one of a beloved family member, we must too think about the evolution of dog training. Gone are the days of training focused on dominance. These ideas are outdated and there's growing scientific data supporting the use of science-based learning principles resulting in much more effective and humane ways to train dogs.

To train a dog you need motivation, otherwise change in behavior won't happen. Motivation comes in many forms, some trainers use rewards to encourage a dog to continue doing a certain behavior and others use fear, intimidation, and pain - we NEVER use pain, force, intimidation, or fear to train any dog we work with. We believe in using positive motivation to get desired behaviors, setting the dog up for success, and focus on relationship building. Read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! We did the Family Manners class and Avi was our trainer. He was fantastic and a huge help. He gave us lots of information and tips for training. Also, the classes are small so there is lots of individual attention. The environment is super positive and my wife and I could not be happier with the results. If you are considering dog training look no further. THIS IS THE PLACE!!!

I've got only good things to say about the Family Dog Manners class. Our 10-month old pooch, Penny, learned a lot - and so did we! The techniques we were shown were very effective and she went from a dog who could only sit and shake - to knowing how to lie down, stay, wait, touch and come. Chelsea was a great trainer who clearly understands both dog and owner behavior. She was great at showing us how to troubleshoot when our pooch was struggling or being stubborn. Grateful we found this class!!

We just finished out 6 week puppy manners class with Avi. Each week we added a new skill and informational material and homework was sent out promptly the next day to keep us practicing. Avi was great to work with and handled our high-energy, 4 month old Australian Cattle Dog very well. Bane loved coming to class, and we hope to sign up for additional workshops when he is old enough to participate.

I've been bringing my cavapoo puppy to the free puppy play classes on Saturdays with Jen and they've been an absolute blast! The room is generally separated by size/temperament but Jen makes sure her attention is spread equally amongst both groups and is always available with treats, water, and a willingness to answer any questions you may have about puppy play or your pup in general. I've only had positive experiences and would definitely recommend any new puppy owners to come along!
