They have staff with good knowledge of equipment. Very helpful and always have a smile on their face. Sometimes they are able to go above and beyond then just helping you for what you asked for.

Friendly knowledgeable employees. Has a small town mountain shop feel in the heart of the city with very reasonable prices!

Great selection, good prices, helpful staff. My first stop for any sporting equipment.

I bought a pair of ski boots years ago that hurt my feet. I came to Sports Basement last season to discuss my issue with my ski boot. The person who helped me was attentive and gave me advice on what to look for that will not hurt my feet. He found a pair within my price range that doesn't hurt my feet. It makes such a huge difference having a pair that actually fits!

I'm running a study and was so lucky to learn that Sports Basement has community space to reserve free of charge. I've held sessions here for the past couple weeks and the staff has been so helpful. A real community asset, and I tell my participants that as well.

If you've never visited - definitely drop by. This place is huge and has pretty much anything sports-related/outdoor gear you can imagine - to purchase or rent.

I went into SB three times in a 24 hour time span to get ready for a weekend backpacking trip and the staff here is incredible. Jonathan fitted my new Osprey backpack, gave me great tips, and recommended an awesome sleeping bag. The trip went great, and I couldn't be happier with all of my purchases.

Sports Basement is one of my favorite stores in the Bay Area, hands down. They have the equipment and gear necessary for every possible sport + outdoor activity you can think of. The prices are also incredibly competitive and they'll always give you 10% off your purchases for joining their rewards program. The employees are ridiculously kind and helpful. I've found the sales folks to be really knowledgable about the areas they're covering.

More specifically, they have a rad deal for wet suit rentals, if you're not sure you want to commit to purchasing one yet. They allow you to put any money you spend on renting the suit towards a purchase, if you'd like.

Don't go anywhere else for your sporting goods needs!

Came here to get our knee scooter (tricycle for people with leg injuries) fixed. Husband got a flat the other day. Bike service was awesome. They changed the inner tube and checked the other tires. Great service!

Update: Had to come back a few days later to replace the other two tires. Same great service!

I love this place. Got my pair of ski pants from here (neon green!)
Also got rentals from here many many times and it was usually smooth (except few times the rental return line was 1 hr long)
The sad part is all the ski stuff is really in a basement so it feels very cramped/dim, not to mention no goddamn cellular service. (although I've heard they now have free wifi)

They also have big catalog of camping supplies on the 2nd floor which was quite interesting. I got like first aid kits, etc.

The rentals are cheap, efficient and organized.
Rental return could be a lot smoother in my opinion.
Their collection of skis on sale was decent. Prices for skis were ok but I ended up buying my skis, binding online for like 25% less.

Even ski goggles were very expensive (good models more than $150-200. I just bough a very cool pair of goggles on amazon for $49.

Ski resort lift tickets are a great deal here, since its open ended and no blackout dates. Although they don't have tickets for any VAIL resort - Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly.

    Their staff is very friendly!
    Parking outside is tight.

Tip: if you're renting more than 1 pair of skis, then get a trolley/cart!
