Love this place! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and there is a great sense of community and fun at this gym.

When you think of Lafayette, Louisiana, rock climbing isn't likely to come to mind. Still, this is one of the best rock climbing gyms around, which dozens of committed climbers call home. Lots of boulder problems and sport climbing routes are packed into the space, while not feeling at all crowded. And a core group of setters keep things fresh. There are routes for every level of difficulty, whether you're just coming for a kids birthday party, or pushing 5.12a. The owners are very friendly and eager to welcome and teach new climbers.

Was pleasantly surprised at the gym. Definitely more difficult than I thought it would be from the pics on the web site. Plus the floor is the most cushioned I have run across in Louisiana.

More difficult routes than most places I have climbed. Normally project v3s. 2s were difficult. Glad they apparently saved this from Going away after likely being pretty popular stop. "Quaintest" and coolest registration area.

Southern Stone has the best environment of any rock gym I've been too. They have some very dedicated route setters, and very hard working crew to keep the place clean and running smoothly.

The gym was very clean, cool, and welcoming. John was a great guide and taught us everything we needed to know. Boyfriend and I had a great time! Everyone should consider bringing climbing gloves, my hands feel like I've been gripping sandpaper for 2 hours!
