Following a long time calling for home, Ian returned to Portland and spent two years managing Portland’s 47th Avenue Farm, one of our city’s first CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farms. During this time he oversaw production of 18 acres of organic vegetables, growing food for over 200 Portland area families.

Ian has skill, knowledge, patience and stamina! He did a lot of physical work around my property and transformed my front yard. I could not have done it without him. I appreciated the mentor sessions, which helped me to understand reasons for planting crops in a certain way, and what each plant's needs were. I asked follow up questions via email and he always answered me promptly. Very grateful for this service. Looking forward to spring planting!

My family and I recently moved to SW Portland from the burbs and had an opportunity to design and implement our back garden to our specifications. I have always wanted to have a perennial herb garden and a vegetable garden but had considered myself anything but a green thumb. ...We have had such a good experience with Ian that we are going to work with him again next year to amend our planting plan and plant some fruit trees. I'm amazed that we have vegetables year round and how many we were able to grow. I would highly recommend Portland Edible Gardens (and have done so).

Ian helped us build 2 raised bed gardens with an irrigation system, developed a planting plan, and we met monthly throughout last year. I knew nothing about gardening prior to meeting Ian. Now I feel comfortable growing healthy, organic vegetables on my own backyard. Ian is professional, a wealth of knowledge and experience. He is passionate about gardening and his enthusiasm will rub off on you. I highly recommend anyone interested in gardening to seek his expertise.
