Morton Street Dance Center, Inc.

Dance Teacher

Originally established in 1992, Morton Street Dance Center is one of Baltimore's best and most comprehensive dance schools. Morton Street's exceptional teaching staff offers exciting, age-appropriate, developmental instruction for professional level dancers and every member of the family age 3 to adult.

The school's youngest students study creative movement and pre-dance which offer a fun introduction to both ballet and modern. Older boys and girls receive technical training in numerous disciplines, including classical ballet, pointe, modern, tap, hip-hop and traditional African dance.

By audition, students may be invited to become part of one of our performing ensembles for students age 8 to 18. The Repertory ensembles perform frequently throughout the year in venues that include: Baltimore's citywide Artscape Festival; the Dorothy P. Stanley Dance Festival at Morgan State University; DanceBaltimore at the Morris Mechanic Theatre and the Hippodrome Theatre; Baltimore's Annual Preakness Parade; the African American Heritage Arts Festival; and in the summer of 2008, headlined the "Music City Arts Conference" in Nashville, TN Read more

... The beginner class is perfect for those who either have not danced before or have some modern dance experience from the past, but have not danced for a while. The advanced class is for those who have some dance experience. The teachers are wonderful and really tailor the lessons to each individual. ...

I love the dance center. It not only teaches kids to dance but about dedication, time management, and the sacrifices you have to make in order to get better at your chosen craft.

This will be my daughter's second year at Morton street dance studio. The dance teachers are great with the kids and every one is here to work. The big production at the end of the semester is great and builds the kids pride and self worth
