Metro MacSupport

Apple Consultant

I've been a Mac user since 1988, providing Mac support since 2000, and a certified Apple Consultant since 2002. Every day I'm up to my elbows in Apple products: using them for personal and professional work and enjoyment, teaching my clients, and troubleshooting their systems.

I got my first glimpse of the wonderful world of Macintosh in 1985; a friend had paid a whopping $3,000 for an early model that boasted a 9-inch (512 x 342 pixel) display, a stunning half-megabyte of RAM, and a floppy drive that could read 400 KB and 800 KB media — cutting edge!

Being inclined towards typography and graphic design, I was immediately won over by a machine that offered such a friendly interface, with black characters on a white screen and WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) printing in a range of fonts, which were even printable on the ImageWriter. This was a far cry from those clunky PCs with their fluorescent green-on-black displays, and their boring single typeface cranked out on perforated continuous feed paper. Read more

I'm so thankful to Ronald for saving all of my 60,000 photos when they had become separated from my Lightroom catalog. Through his knowledge and skills in Lightroom he was able to remotely repair my mistakes and fix Lightroom bugs. He found solutions and taught me new skills and shortcuts to making Lightroom easier to use. Ronald also gave me confidence when I felt embarrassed and apprehensive about revealing the mess I made in Lightroom.

Cruising the internet, I came upon an Apple consultant, Ronald Gehrmann. Being a Baby Boomer, my techno challenges have felt inhibiting to many of the things I wanted to explore - my writing and organization, my photos, down to the tiniest things such as email conundrums, creating a budget on the numbers app, yes even “cutting and pasting.” Once the “one on one” appointment options at the Apple Store were eliminated, getting individual help loomed beyond my ability to sort out. Ronald has been nothing short of a gold mine for me, service on site at my home and much of the time through a secure program in which I can allow him access to my computer screen which is terminated when we finish. He has helped me with my phone, tablets and laptop. I couldn’t recommended him more highly. He is extremely professional and understanding ; no question is too insignificant to ask.

Ronald has helped me in SO many ways, I don’t even know where to start! I am an aspiring photographer starting my own business and needed help from what iMac to purchase, how to make my own web-site, to fixing my iPhone when I was ready to throw it out the window! Ronald is the smartest human being I know in the Mac world and I would have been completely lost without his help. It’s nice to know that he is a text or email away if I have a quick concern. He has so many times helped me last minute when I have been in a bind. He is extremely patient and will go over anything as many times as you need to. Ronald is located in Portland, OR whereas I am in Tacoma, WA and though we’ve never met in person, remote screen sharing enables us to work together perfectly! Whether you need help with your iPhone, an iMac that you have no idea how to use, or help with Lightroom, Ronald is your guy! I would recommend him to anyone without any hesitation!

This is the very 1st time I have written a critique of someone and their services. Ronald was my computer guy when he lived in NY. Sad for me when he left but he assured me he could remotely take care of my computer needs. I find it amazing, but he truly does that. I did not want to purchase a new computer right now and Ronald made it so I didn't have to. He updated all my software, saved what I needed and got rid of what I didn't need anymore. He is always patient and positive and it is truly a pleasure to work with him. He is so knowledgeable, I feel lucky that he can still be such a big help to me.

I called Ronald to help me with problems on my iMac that no Genius was addressing… The issues were costing us time and frustration in our business. Not only was Ronald able to help me with the issues, he also turned me on to several time and money saving items and how they would save me hours of time on even ONE project. He showed me how to use what I already owned to make our business lives more efficient! He is also easy to work with, positive attitude, in short, a joy. I consider him a valuable part of my business team — and his fees were worth every penny in less hair-pulling and faster turnarounds on projects, meaning more profit for our business.
