Liberty Bicycles was founded in 1980 by Mike and Claudia Nix with the mission of putting more people on bikes. 35 years later we're still local and still under the same ownership. We offer a great selection of bikes, clothing, and accessories. Our staff is trained to assist you in making informed purchases, whether it’s a big purchase, such as a new bike, or a small purchase like a patch kit or energy bar. We have the most qualified staff in Asheville to help you find and equip your new bike. We have been named “Best Bike Shop” in WNC by Mountain X-press readers every year since 2007 as well as voted one of America’s Best Bike Shops by the National Bicycle Retailers Association.

We believe that bicycling promotes health, mental well-being, enjoyment of the outdoors and opportunities for achievement and competition. Therefore, Liberty is an advocate for cycling, both locally and nationally. Liberty exists to provide an enjoyable, exceptional cycling experience. When you bring a bike in for service, they spend an inordinate amount of time going over the bike with you to be sure they fully understand the problem and try to identify any other potential issues before you leave.

Excellent service since I bought a mountain bike from Liberty about a year ago. Mechanics are knowledgeable and experienced and their quality services are well worth the price. They are quick to replace warranty and failed items to get you back on your bike. I am very satisfied that I purchased my bike from this shop.
