I took four shirts and a pair of pants here to be altered and the cost was $220.00. Luckily the people who made the clothes for me were footing the bill and not me!

The clothes were tailored expertly and were ready on time for pickup. For an important garment I would definitely come back here to have an alteration done, but for anything else I might search out cheaper options.

I have been going to Mr. Kim for about two years now, and will continue traveling to see him from anywhere in the city. The sticker shock of DC tailoring has almost worn off because of the quality of his work and amazing turnaround. Best of all, he does not accept alterations that will cost you more, when there is an easier/cheaper workaround (e.g. when my partner took his suit to Mr. Kim to get it taken in and Mr. Kim told us to exchange it for a size down to save on what would otherwise be a massive tailoring job).

I brought a $$$$ calfskin leather biker jacket to Kim to shorten the sleeves. He had a 7-10 day turn around. It cost 80 dollars. He altered the length of the sleeves while preserving the unique buckle-cuffs. You leave almost sad that this type of expertise is so rare.

I've been going to Mr. Kim for over a year now. He's great--really knows what he's doing, thorough professional, and very honest in telling you what is or isn't a great idea in terms of cost. ... His prices are also very reasonable.

I am also, btw, the "villain" in the 1-star review that's also posted here. Here's what actually happened. I had several garments to pick up from Mr. Kim. He handed them to me, and the other customer's pants were accidentally included. (Apparently, the other customer had left those pants sitting there for a few weeks). Anyway, when I got home, I got a call from Mr. Kim, asking if I could bring those pants back. I was preparing for a meeting the next day, so I couldn't come back that night, but I told him I'd bring them back the following evening, which I did. So the aggrieved customer had to wait all of one day for his pants to be returned. Not exactly a tragedy, imo.

I've been going to Mr. Kim ever since moving to Washington--after doing quite a bit of research. I've only gone to a different tailor once--out of curiosity--and wound up paying more for work that I didn't like as much. I've brought Mr. Kim all kinds of suits (and pants and shirts) with all kinds of problems, and he's made them all fit like they were MTM. In the event that a garment isn't worth altering, he'll tell you. His manner is no-nonesense, and he works quickly, which at first made me nervous that he was rushing. He isn't. He just knows that he's doing. They say when you have a good mechanic, a good doctor, and a good lawyer, never move. I'd add tailor to the list, and recommend Mr. Kim.
