Kathy Marfin's Dance School

Dance Teacher

Kathy Marfin’s Dance School first opened in San Antonio in 1979. Since that day, we have prided ourselves on providing a safe, professional and fun environment for children to learn the art and love of Dance.

KMDS offers an array of classes including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Dance Team, Hip-Hop, Tumbling and Social Dance for ages 2-Adults. We provide beginner, intermediate and advanced classes for the recreational dancer, as well as the pre-professional dancer. Students receive professional dance training and quality dance technique, giving them a strong foundation for a great future, as well as a means to a lifetime of physical fitness. Although the technique is very important, we believe that it is equally important to develop students’ coordination, grace, confidence, and friendships in the classroom. Read more

Absolutely love the studio! The teachers and staff are amazing! Everyone at the studio goes out out of their way to help each student. The passion the teachers have really reflects in their instruction. My daughter has grown so much and loves going to class. I highly recommend this studio.

... When he first started, he couldn't even really jump. And by the time he finished his final performance they had helped him become a lot more coordinated and understand how to move his body in sync with the music. He still has a long way to go before he's Kevin Bacon from Footloose but we all have to start somewhere.

As an added bonus, they had very reasonable prices for the photography session they offered because the owner's husband already had professional equipment in the back of the studio. The service here has always been very good and I would highly recommend this dance studio for classical, tap and Jazz. The only style I did not think they really excelled in was Hip Hop and if that's your focus, I would recommend going somewhere that specializes in it.

Prices were very reasonable and class sizes were mid size so you know your kid will get the attention he/she deserves. I really enjoyed seeing my son develop and understand a little bit more on what it means to stay on beat and bust a move!

My daughter, who is now 9, just finished her fourth year at KMDS. I have been impressed with everything about the school. The teachers are not only well versed in multiple forms of dance; they have a passion to bring that knowledge to a new generation of dancers. I have seen my child, who was bashful and self conscience, blossom into a confident young girl who loves to express herself through movement and perform that passion for others. I can't thank KMDS enough for bringing that out in her. Your child will be treated more than a paying customer, they will be educated with growth in mind and treated like family by everyone there!

Our daughters, ages 7 and 5, have been dancing at Kathy Marfin's Dance School for the past 5 and 4 seasons, respectively. During this time we have seen them both grow in confidence and ability. Especially our younger daughter, who was very shy, it took her a year before she would even speak to or look at some of the staff. Now as many of our family and friend and the teachers, and staff know she is a little firecracker :) The teachers and staff treat the students and their family like family. Everyone at the studio will go out of their way to help the students grow and achieve their goals. We highly recommend Kathy Marfin's to anyone looking for a dance studio!
