Doula

Pregnancies, preparing for labor, birthing a baby and moving through postpartum are the touchstones of the childbearing year. In the 10 years, I have been working as a doula, I have immersed myself in every stage of this process discovering that my true inspiration lies in supporting families through the profound transition of the postpartum period. Becoming a parent and caring for a newborn isn't always an intuitive process and can range from amazing to downright scary. In my own life, I have placed value on learning how to move through transitional experiences with gratitude for the moments that work and are in the flow and compassion for the clunky moments that don't feel as great. I have found this to be an invaluable tool while working with families that are in the midst of one of the life's greatest transitions.

I have always been intrigued by the pivotal events in our lives that seem to present the opportunity for personal awareness and growth. I am interested in honoring childbirth and becoming a new parent as a major life event. I am interested in what comes up for people during moments of great joy and when they are up against their edge. I believe how one moves through the experience matters-not just for who they are but for who they are to become. Read more

I thank Jen for offering this first time mom solid guidance and invaluable insight, and for teaching me gentle yet effective tools to help my daughter sleep more soundly and effectively both day and night. ...

... We hired Jen for three nights/week for the first six weeks and ended up adding on an additional two weeks of care. She was such a wonderful, calming guide for us through the foggy early newborn days. She is proactive and has a sixth sense about what you might need her to help you with before you've even realized the need. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is great company during the many middle of the night feedings, which can be surprisingly lonely as a new mom. ...
