InTown Doula

Doula

Doulas are people who provide families with unbiased, non-judgmental support regardless of the choices they make or the circumstances they choose. This comes really naturally to me, as this is precisely how I was brought up. My mother has led a life of public service for decades, and having me didn't slow her down; whether we were attending Greenville's first Pride Parade or working to create a safe living space for the homeless HIV+ population, I was along for the ride learning that compassionate, unconditional support is what can make this world go 'round.

My childcare experience spans decades, and I have held positions with families from babysitter to governess. When I discovered I could apply unbiased support to the world of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I realized what I was meant to do!

Since becoming a doula in 2012, I have assisted over 100 families in welcoming their new babies, with dozens more supported prenatally and postpartum. Read more

I have never met such a strong and supportive group of women/doulas. The comprehensive service they provide was unbelievable! The owner, MMT, sets the tone for every individual doula to be your support, strong for YOU and make sure YOU get the experience YOU want. Even after the delivery they are always there for YOU and baby and your partner! Since they've added sleep coaching I literally think there isn't anything they can't do!

Intown Doula was a comforting part of the birth of our son who was stillborn. I know it may seem strange to have a doula at a non-typical birth, but MMT's wisdom, strength, love, and care helped guide us through the trauma and grief of the day. I cannot ever fully express how much it meant to have her there for our son's birth and in the days after as we mourned his loss. We are forever grateful for MMT's presence and light in those darkest of days.

Intown Doula is absolutely amazing!!! From placenta encapsulation to sleep coaching their doulas are pros. Elizabeth worked magic with our 6month old who had never slept through a night before - he now sleeps 12 HOURS every night!!! Margaret is an absolute gem - checking in on us and making herself and her doulas available to answer every question a new mom may have! Always going above and beyond and guiding us in the right direction!

My family has used Intown Doula twice now and both times they have exceeded expectations. Most recently we worked with Heather who helped care for my mom after a horrible burn accident. My mom is someone who typically cares for everyone and leaves herself last, but Heather made sure she felt pampered and my mom was well cared for during her recovery.

Elizabeth took care of my little sister and brand new nephew after he arrived a little over a month ago. My sister was so happy with the attention and care she received, helping her recover from a tough birth.

I sincerely appreciate the willingness and flexibility Intown Doula provided to my family and HIGHLY recommend their services to anyone that is looking for a doula. What an amazing group!

My partner and I wanted to have a “natural” birth, meaning a vaginal birth w/o being induced and w/o the use of drugs for pain. The few people that I knew who had a successful, natural birth usually hired a doula. We don’t have tons of extra cash lying around so we started and extensive search for an affordable but experienced doula whose personality meshed well with ours. We finally found MMT the Intown doula (she was recommended on a friend’s neighborhood board I think).
As soon as we met MMT we were sold! She is knowledgeable and experienced but not overbearing or pushy with her own beliefs about what the birth process or raising a child should be. She truly just wanted to be there for us both and help us have the best birth possible.
Long story short-after 16 hours of labor I ended up having to have a C-section, but not for lack of trying. If we had not had MMT there to encourage me, support me (literally), calm us down, distract us with engaging conversation and tell us that everything was going to be okay then it would have been a pretty brutal and terrifying experience.
We are both so glad that we hired MMT as our doula, she was totally worth it. I would not hesitate to recommend her to my friends and if we decide to have another baby someday we will definitely use her services again. Intown doula is awesome!
