International Mountain Climbing School

Outdoor Recreation

Experience & Trust… for over 30 years we have been guiding folks and teaching them the skills to be safe and proficient in the mountains. Mount Washington is our training ground, home of the ‘World’s Worst Weather’. And with world class climbing locations such as Cathedral Ledge, Whitehorse Ledge, Frankenstein Cliffs, and Cannon Cliff, we can teach you the skills you need to enjoy the mountains for years to come whether you’re a raw beginner or seasoned expert.

Our guides and instructors grew up on these cliffs; IMCS knows which climb will be the best for you and how to get the most out of your climbing day. Read more

I took an alpine mountaineering course with them and found them to be extremely competent, professional, and accommodating.

I took the three day mountaineering class to gain skills for future winter adventures and hiking through a very snowy Sierra Nevada on the Pacific Crest Trail this summer. Michael's 17 years of experience provided the skills I need to travel safely and a memorable experience climbing Mt. Washington. I hope to return next winter to take things up a notch!

If you are climbing in the White Mountains this is the place to hire a guide. We have climbed several times with different guides and they are unfailingly professional, knowledgeable, and extremely safe. Brad, who runs the school, is great to deal with in the booking process. Once out on the rock, you will be in great hands and learn a lot from the guide they provide. I wouldn't go anywhere else for hiring a rock, ice, or mountaineering guide in the area.

Kiteboarding lessons here are thorough and set anyone up for year round kite sports, highly knowledgable instruction from IKO and PASA certified instructors! How can you go wrong?

Highly recommended and definitely the best in the North Conway area for kiteboarding instruction and the FYI the longest running year round kiteboarding lessons offered in all New England

IMCS has the best reputation in the area. I signed up for the Three Day Basic Mountaineering course with them before knowing the depth and history of their excellent reputation. During my time in North Conway, I would mention, "Oh, I am climbing with IMCS" and, without hesitation, locals and experienced climbers would say something akin to "that's the best group to go with". ...

During our climb, my guides demonstrated not only their intimate knowledge of the basics, but also their ability to perform in emergencies. I will absolutely use their guide service, again.

First, if you're interested in hiking, don't just buy either the cheapest item or the one with the biggest discount. Your enjoyment depends on so many variables and a smart hiker is key to pointing you in the right direction.

This place is great for many reasons, especially including having really knowledgeable people here to help. They asked us a bunch of questions before recommending Products and once we got on the hiking trail, we realized how much better off we were then if we had gone with our original ideas.

Kudos to them. This is a great place!
