A loving, welcoming dance community that encourages all to learn, grow, move, create art, and build confidence has grown from Hot Pot Studios to include dancers around the world. Any human, regardless of age, background, ability, gender, or orientation can learn to be a dancer or find a niche in the Hot Pot creative performing arts culture. I love Hot Pot!

My friend and I wanted to try something new, and after checking out a traditional belly dance class (which was minimal movement with a lot of repetition, hardly a workout, and limited instruction), we were intrigued by the seemingly alternative style at Hot Pot Studios. We checked out the Tuesday 6:30 p.m. Belly Dance Fusion class with Kari and loved it! The moves were introduced and practiced at slower and faster paces throughout the class and a routine was built up for a couple of songs at the end of the class. We were told it's always different for each class, which gives a variety to look forward to. It was a very comfortable environment to be in and Kari was very welcoming in her demeanor before, during, and after class. The group was on the smaller side, about 5 of us, which gave us each a nice amount of dance floor space. We were all different shapes and sizes which felt very comfortable to be a part of. I enjoyed the alternative music throughout the class. Keeping in mind my friend and I both have dance and fitness backgrounds, we got about 80-85% of the movements, so we had down a majority but didn't catch on to a few moves, which was enough for us to feel successful but look forward to learning better technique. Price-wise, a $10 drop-in is reasonable compared to other fitness and dance classes offered in Sac, and I would pay it again, but just not every single week. Workout wise, great core focus and I did break a bit of a sweat; I'd say it was a lower intensity workout good for incorporating into a workout regimen with medium and higher intensity workouts throughout the week. Overall, we really enjoyed it and left smiling and planning the next time we could both make it back for another class together. We'll be back for more!

I think Hot Pot is an incredibly inspiring place. Amy gets the balance between social dance and pushing boundaries in art just right. She is so incredibly creative and she is all about team playing and community. I love how everyone at hot pot has that same sense of team playing, which shows how much is possible with a positive mindset. Can't wait to see you all in a few weeks! <3
