Mike Rucci is the quintessential Millennial Entrepreneur. He is extremely advanced as a creative and technological thinker and problem solver. Mike is totally accessible no matter how busy he is; he will answer in depth technical issues from his customers- or jut admirers and the curious stranger alike. He makes what some would call "lo-fi" electronic instruments, but from scratch and does not compromise on quality in his components nor final products. If you open up one of his products, you quickly realize that nt only did he invent something, but he figured out how to do it RIGHT. He is constantly innovating and creating new projects and is forced to retire several projects at a time in order to produce all of the ideas and prototypes too good not to offer up for sale. He makes hand-held Eurorack friendly sequencers, drones, synths and goofy retro-mods. His product line is just as likely to have a 16 step 4 voice, dual filter sequencer with CV and Gate control as it is to have a 30 year old garage sale Pong controller turned into a drone that uses the rotary control for frequency modulation. His instruments are extremely accessible for anyone to pick up and play with zero training or know how and have fun with, and yet his devices are as capable as any eurorack mass produced "must have" of the moment. Mike's instruments make his business special, but Mike makes his customers special. Once you've bought something or just started communicating with Mike online, he becomes your willing on-call guru for all things electronic, DIY and musical. He is intellectually curious, helpful and an excellent listener and prophetic problem solver. I know Mike is going places- and going to make it to the big time not only because he can create and sell products that anyone can have fun with, but because he has that certain spark that forces people he comes in contact with to remember him- and remember to reach out to him, and Mike makes you feel like it would be just fine for him to reach out to you. I'd give Mike the shirt off my back because I know he would not only do the same for me, but build me a fire and cook a meal as well- while teaching me to do it the next time on my own. If I were to "win" this contest, I would ask Mike what he wanted and buy it for him. He would insist that I get something and I would force him to pick it out for me. That is saying a lot considering I could spend ten thousand dollars at Perfect Circuit in about ten minutes.
