H LINE Arborist

Arborist

H LINE Arborist (HLArb) is dedicated to sensible, efficient tree preservation and vigorous tree establishment because a healthy, well-integrated street canopy/urban forest improves the quality of life for everyone. Manhattan trees as 'Green Infrastructure', for example, in a densely-built, paved environment, improve air quality, cool NYC's 'air', and reduce water pollution for the whole region. In addition, street canopies not only enhance streets themselves, but experiences on sidewalks, and life in nearby buildings. Read more

The High Line Arborist has pruned the trees in my Chelsea, NY back yard and the privets out front to very pleasing effect. He has also reconfigured landscape elements in my garden with new plantings, a new sitting area and an enlarged fish pond. He works efficiently and effectively. I am very pleased with the work he has done for me as well as the work he does around the neighborhood on bike lane tree pits and in the garden at St. Peter's church.

NY COURTYARD REDESIGN. ... It's a beautiful church now more beautiful, to enter and then proceed from, into the little gem of a garden space, cleared of its clutter to highlight features I'd never noticed before in many years of attending. Now you know you're in a spot where worshipers have been for more than a century past.
A touch of nature was always nice there; now there's a new experience of deep peace, drawn from the order and the lovely new plants and gently sculpted trees. It reminds me of when I moved my home-based marketing consulting business into my first co-op on W. 23rd St., and had an architect redo it to meet my dual needs for working space within a real home with an exposed-brick wall and a fireplace. You could breathe there. You can breathe deeply now in St. Peter's garden space and entry/exit.

As someone who has worked professionally with Michael Ruggiero - as well as viewing his private work, it's clear that he is an exceptional landscape architect who has a broad and deep level of experience in placemaking, site planning and design, and plant knowledge - which is second to none. His work harmonizes with its surroundings and seeks to accent the assets of its site and is performed with a clear focus on maintenance and sustainability. He has designed important public spaces in NYC and the region as well as contributing his unique and painterly vision to the articulation of private gardens and estate landscaping. His personal dedication and attention to detail is second to none when it comes to completing his designs. I highly Recommend Mr. Ruggiero.

After Sandy, a lot of my trees died and I was left with a hot tub and deck on Long Island without any privacy. Michael, who I've known since I lived in Westchester, came out and sketched out a plan that could be installed in phases over a couple of years. His plan and the renderings were great and used native species that fit into the surrounding landscape perfectly. While I could have opted to through a bunch more money at my problem by purchasing and installing more and larger specimens, I wanted an approach that would look natural and grow organically. It's now two years on and my deck has total privacy. yay! Thank you.
