In The Deets
Gita Jacobson

Designer

I started In the Deets because I love being a part of turning a space into a beloved home.

I have a background in Industrial Design from San Jose State University. I have taught design at Stanford University and have been helping friends and family with their design projects for years. I'm extremely hands on and will be the first to pick up a hammer or a paint brush, but I'm also great at managing all the details in spreadsheets. Read more

Gita helped me rework the furniture and layout in my living room and dining room. She listened to what we wanted and provided great options in an easy to review form. I really loved seeing the floor plans that matched the couch choices. Gita also provided solutions to various window treatment issues we had.

Gita helped me with the interior design of two residences: a permanent residence that goes for a high-end look; a temporary residence that has a modest budget. She did great work for both projects. What I like the most is her ability to pull everything together in a way that is coordinated but not matchy.

Gita is super responsive - we got a lot of work done via emails which was very helpful due to my busy work schedule.

I would recommend Gita to anyone who needs design services.

Gita helped us completely design our girls' bedrooms (2 and 4 years old), and add some finishing touches to our living room. We have loved working with her - she is thoughtful and flexible, and offered us inspirational and different opinions in an engaged and helpful way. For example, our 4 year old wanted a super princessy room, and she helped us to achieve that but in a way that would last beyond this phase.

And the end results are extraordinary - they capture our girls' personalities and desires perfectly. We posted photos of the finished product on Facebook and one of our friends described it best: "THAT is cool. The wondrous imagination of children, encapsulated in inspiring design. Brilliant!"

I had a wonderful experience working with Gita. I had never worked with an interior designer before, but I knew that I needed a professional like Gita since I do not have many interior design skills myself. I really appreciated how Gita listened to what I wanted and was very willing to work within my budget.

I have a medium-to-large-sized living room which was constantly covered in toys from my two toddlers. She helped redesign the space so there's a neat and tidy grown-up area and an out-of-sight area where the kids can play. I am so happy to come home to my new living room!

I've visited Gita's home and it's gorgeously decorated with reasonably priced decor. She got into the business after friends noticed her natural sense, though she's also educated in institutional design. She's down to earth so decorates with a family sensibility if needed. And she will also project manage construction work, which I've found to be a real need!

My wife and I hired Gita to design and oversee a complete kitchen re-model project at our home and she was fantastic. She was organized, friendly, knowledgeable and very detail-oriented through the whole process. When we had a question or concern, she got right on it and never left us hanging. Our kitchen came out beautifully and Gita will definitely be getting more business from us in the future when we look to upgrade or remodel another part of our house.
