Galyean Vail

Interior Designer

Growing up with an auctioneer for a father taught me that everything has a story that pieces don’t just take up physical space, but that they mean something because of where they were found when they were found, or whom they were passed down from.

My formal education reflects my interest in both interior design and the wellness of the human body. After completing my degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, I moved on to study Residential Interiors at Boston Architectural College. This background has helped me to approach projects holistically, as I create or redesign spaces in a way that is attentive to the impact those spaces will have on the people living in them.

I currently work from my studio in Boston’s Fort Point Channel, where I collect and sell various vintage furnishings for clients, designers, and everyone in between. They represent heritage from both sides of my family, who were greatly influential in cultivating my passion for design. Read more

Barbara has an incredible eye and is a delight and a joy to work with. She is a consummate professional with an ability to translate a client’s vision and to create a space that is personal, warm, unique, relaxed functional and stylish. She takes the time to get to know her clients and understand their lifestyle in order to maximize a space’s utility - and she has a terrific ability for this. ...

Five stars aren't enough to express the quality of Barbara's work and the extraordinary integrity, sensitivity and thoughtful awareness she brings to it. Through her deep sense of empathy, she was able to discern and bring to life exactly what I was looking for before I fully understood it myself. I am deeply grateful to her for all she has done for me, and I can't imagine moving anywhere in the future without Barbara by my side. Working with her has truly been one of the great pleasures of my life!

Barbara is wonderful to work with. She has a great eye and a knack for devising clever solutions for small spaces. She quickly gleaned our aesthetic and helped bring to life what we envisioned but couldn't articulate or realize on our own. Beyond her design skills, she also has wonderful "bedside manner," helping us see for ourselves (gently and kindly!) when our ideas were impractical or when we were holding on to old pieces for the wrong reasons. We recommend her highly!
