Five Spice Catering

Caterer

Mukti and Imelda met in Berkeley, California, where the food culture and philosophy of local produce and innovation blended well with their eclectic culinary style and approach to event design.

Applying native California sensibilities within a New York context, they developed their own brand of "exotic comfort foods" and created Five Spice Catering. Their farmer's market-meets-bazaar approach means marrying fresh ingredients with distinctive flavors from roads less traveled.

Five Spice is proud to bring quality and novelty to all aspects of your event, including food, presentation, and staff- regardless of budget.

In addition to weddings, we have worked with a broad range of corporate clients including sports, fashion, and lifestyle brands. Past and current clients include Kind Snacks, Nike, Puma, Burton Snowboards, Vice, WeSC, House of Marley, Teen Vogue, Thomas Pink, Issey Miyake, and more. We also customize menus to pair with and showcase wine and spirits for clients such as Wine Enthusiast Magazine and Glenmorangie.

We embrace the opportunity to create menus that are vegan, vegetarian, paleo, halal, and gluten-free. Read more

Mukti and Imelda are two of the coolest people you could ever book to cater for anything, much less your wedding. ... Guests could not stop raving about the food (we opted for seasonal farm to table-meets-Indian for our mains), and many said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had.
Tip: their cocktails are also great, and opt for a signature cocktail. We did a habanero-grapefruit margarita and it was absolutely delicious.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Mukti and Imelda.

My husband and I opted to plan and execute our wedding by ourselves. We asked our venue, The Greenpoint Loft, for a list of vendors they'd worked with before. Five Spice was among them. ... The tasting was so much fun, elegant, and incredibly tasty. We knew immediately that we wanted to work with Five Spice. ... Five Spice is truly one of a kind. I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a unique culinary experience for their next event. I cannot thank them enough for all they gave to us!

We worked with Five Spice for our wedding at the Dumbo Loft. ... Mukti and Imelda were such a pleasure to work with that we wish we had another reason to hire them again. Instead we're both actively convincing our friends to use Five Spice for their weddings just so we can enjoy more of their delicious creations.

Working with Mukti and Imelda is like working with two of your closest friends who just happen to be the most amazing businesswomen and chefs. ... It was incredible to walk away from our wedding with so many compliments and positive feedback from our guests! There are not enough ways to describe how amazing our wedding experience with Mukti and Imedla was and we can only hope we're so lucky to eat their food again!

Five Spice is amazing. Our wedding was at the Bell House in Brooklyn, which doesn't offer food, or really have a kitchen. ...
Really, my only complaint about 5 Spice is that they don't own a restaurant, so I don't get to eat their food again unless one of my friends hires them for a wedding.
