Joe relocated to Los Angeles in 2013 where he remains passionate about connecting people to their food, plants, and to the land that produces them. He is also excited and inspired by our amazing climate that provides the opportunity to grow such an incredible variety of plant life. Growing beyond edible gardens, Joe has installed traditional landscapes and drought tolerant landscapes. He has also provided indoor plant services. More recently Joe has begun creating living walls, drawing inspiration from the ridiculous diversity of succulents available to us in southern California. Joe has his master’s degree in Organismal & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Read more

... Joe communicates really well and is very transparent about how much he thinks the project will cost, what might cost more and where we could save $$. We were really impressed with this and it made us feel so much more comfortable with the yard investment.

Joe knows plants. He knows colors, shapes, sizes, names, soils, trees, vines. You name it, he knows it.
The finished work looks incredible and we are so excited to have our own personal sanctuary created and designed by Joe.
Highly recommend him. -

It's been yummy and fun to learn about gardening. I had no idea what i was doing and he was and continues to be a great teacher. I couldn't recommend him more. -

... I made him a list of the vegetables and herbs (and even some berries) that we like. Joe is very knowledgable about what is in season and what will work well in the space that we have.

... We had enough sugar snap peas last spring to feed all the kids in our neighborhood for weeks! If you have a lot of space or just a little but want to experience that "farm to table" sensation or as Joe prefers to call it "yard to table", I highly recommend First Earth Gardens.
