Field Day is a collaboration between chefs Matt Howard and Jeremy Larter. We met in culinary school at Johnson & Wales University some twenty years ago. Jeremy went on to hone his skills as a wine steward, kitchen manager, and catering chef at outstanding local venues such as Ken’s Artisan Pizza, DOC, and GP Catering in Lake Oswego. Meanwhile, Matt perfected his palate and prowess as a chef, caterer, and event manager at some of Portland’s top hotels, banquet rooms, and wineries. With this wealth of combined experience, we reunited in 2013 to establish Field Day Feasts and Gatherings, with the aim of providing distinctive, seasonal menus with attention to service, quality, and approachability. Our team specializes in creating seasonally-driven food and cocktail menus for a wide variety of gatherings and occasions.

Whether for an intimate dinner party or a sizeable event, our team is always friendly, responsive, and conscientious, collaborating with clients to design a feast that will be unforgettable.     Words cannot begin to describe how grateful my husband and I are to Jeremy and Matt, and their whole crew, for everything that they did for our wedding. We had an October wedding and wanted to make sure that the menu included seasonal options and local fare so that our out-of-town guests could get a sample of Portland food and Field Day delivered.

    Matt and Jeremy worked closely with us throughout planning to include all of our favorite things and make the menu personal and fun. They created a pumpkin-pie style dessert specifically for my husband since neither of us particularly like cake. They took the time and listened to us and bounced ideas around with us about the menu, how the evening would work, how the room could be reconfigured from ceremony to reception. ...

    We cannot begin to express our gratitude for Jeremy & Matt. We scrambled at the last minute to find a wedding caterer when we realized our in-house venue caterer wouldn't be the best fit for our event. We wanted the food to be delicious. Not just the regular "wedding food" if you will. Not only was the food amazing (truly, we're still getting compliments on the food and a bunch of "best food we've ever had" notes from our guests), but our experience was flawless. From the mom...

    We hired Field Day for our daughter's wedding last weekend and were SO GLAD that we did. We tasted with two other catering companies in Portland before we made a decision and no one else came close to what Field Day does. Another reviewer said that Jeremy and Matt are true chefs and artists. It's true! Their food is imaginative, fun and delicious. They created a special appetizer to fulfill an idea we had and our guests raved over it. From start to finish they were so accommodating and easy to work with while thoroughly professional and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Field Day and would use them again in a heartbeat.

    As an event planner I have worked with a lot of caterers. Field Day is my absolute favorite to work with. I recommend them to all of my clients and not one has gone with another caterer. Their food is not what you think of when you think of catering. Jeremy and Matt are true chefs and artists. They are incredibly professional and go above and beyond for all of their clients no matter the scope of the event or the budget. They always provide outstanding quality at a very reasonable price point and truly care about and enjoy their work. I can't say enough good things about Field Day. They are experienced and excellent to work with.

    Jeremy just catered our July 4th wedding at Bridal Veil Lakes in the Gorge. The food was outstanding—weeks later, I'm still getting compliments from guests. The dishes were inventive and executed flawlessly, featuring local PNW ingredients that were exciting to guests coming from out of the country. They even pulled in some subtle South American and Nordic elements to compliment our guests coming from Brazil, Denmark, and Germany.

    Aside from the food being fantastic, the staff was super friendly and on top of things. I didn't have a wedding planner, but Jeremy helped fill the gap. ...
