I love this place, I grew up around the corner and I've always needed a lot altered as short as I am. She altered my prom dress years ago and my slacks when I worked at the business school. Will always return to pay for this kind of service.

Doris is incredible. I've taken my jeans, dresses, shirts, even a bra with the wire sticking out. This woman can do it all. Her work is exceptional, prices are very reasonable, and turn around is fast (can be even faster for a small fee). They only take checks and cash, but this place is the only place, in my opinion, to have anything altered in Allandale and surrounding neighborhoods. Doris rules.....

I found the perfect pair of jeans at Nordstrom Rack for Thanksgiving. The only problem with my awesome purchase was that the jeans' length and my leg length didn't match. They never do. :( I of course, waited until 2 days before Thanksgiving to think about getting them hemmed. I called all over north Austin and everyone else laughed at me when I asked if they could be ready on such a short timeline. Not Doris. She told me to drive right over and that's what I did. I got there, she had me try them on, she pinned them up and sent me on the way promising they'd be ready the very next day. When I arrived the next day they were ready and the hem line matched the rest of the stitching perfectly. (This is very very important to me. It's the details ya know?) They fit great, were the correct length, ready then next day and for a measly 13 bucks? Are you kidding me? Also, in my haste to write her a check (because I had forgotten that she does not accept cards) I accidentally wrote the amount for thirty instead of thirteen. She called me the next business day and told me what happened and that she had 17 dollars at her shop waiting for me. What an honest woman. I'm not taking my business anywhere. It was a great experience.

I went there upon recommendation, to get my wedding dress fitted/altered. My positive experience led to a revival of age-old clothes trapped in my closet. Things I bought in the past because they were good quality and on mega sale, but didn't quite fit... or old stuff that looked funny now due to changes in fashion, with high waist and strangely shaped legs. My closet is historical. Fabrics were so much better in the past. So I feel bad getting rid of old items. I do get rid of new items no problem, since everything is a cheap piece of disgusting polyester. But I digress... ...
