Design Distillery

Interior Designer

Established in 2002.

When Karen Graveline moved to Baltimore, she and her husband fell for the charms of rowhouse living. With a degree in interior design, Karen was excited to furnish their 12-foot wide brick home. Challenged by finding stylish furniture that fit small spaces, her passion for modern design led her to a set of vintage Danish dining chairs in Chicago listed on Ebay. The hunt for mid-century modern furnishings became an obsession. To share her finds with other urban dwellers, Karen founded Home on the Harbor.

The store has grown from a small vintage storefront on Charles Street in Federal Hill to a stellar, modern showroom featuring hand-picked items from designers around the world. In 2010, the store relocated to a turn-of-the-century factory building just south of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. In 2016, it was renamed Design Distillery where the shop remains a popular furniture shopping destination offering a curated selection of unique items and personalized interior design services. Great shop for furniture and great staff and customer service! Some of our furnitures were delayed for a while since they are made to order. We hosted a party but they had something they let us borrow day of, to make up for the delay! You can't get with an online store!!
